I've lived in Hampton Cove about 6 months now and have praises and complains. Like posts in the past, I feel the girls in the office are often unhelpful. They are very polite and seem to understand my needs, but I have to make several calls before anything gets done. They forgot to paint the walls when I moved in, therefore I had to paint them myself! They told me it was a "liability" to paint them once a tenent has moved in, so they provided me with the cans of paint and said my only option was to paint them myself over the weekend. There are lots of racoons and cats that get into any trash you leave out overnight, but I don't think that's much of a problem. The apartment itself is really nice. I like the space and floorplan, but one complaint is that there isn't enough hot water to fill up my bathtub! I'm limited to showers if I don't want to freeze to death. The gates are finally working, but the first 5 months I lived here they were constantly open, which annoyed me. Parking is limited at night, but that seems to be consistent with any apartment complex, and Hampton Cove at least offers covered parking and garages. One thing to be aware of, before you move in here, is the noise. These walls seem to be very thin, and I hear my neighbors sneezing and brushing their teeth in the morning. Overall, I like living here. This place is far from perfect, but I think I'm able to juggle the cons with the pros, and don't plan on moving out when my lease is up in another 6 months. I like my neighbors, and the girls in the front office are nice.

I make it a point to never leave trash outside at night - that's just begging for scavengers. I take the trash out in the early morning on my way to work. I think it's great that they have someone that comes out and picks it up for you. I recommend getting a unit with a garage. I never hear my neighbors - it's super quiet where I am and I never have an issue with parking. I agree with you about the gates - they are a pain in the ass and never seem to be working.
