HORRIBLE!! Don't do it!!

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008

My husband and I lived in these apartments for one year. We moved out in March of 2008. We loved the place when we first moved in. The staff was so friendly and went above and beyond to help us out. At FIRST!! And then one day I accidentally wrote the wrong amount on our rent check. The dang lady in the office looked over my check and then told me okay thanks. Well nothing was said to me for weeks and the check was not deposited for weeks. Finally on the very LAST day that they are allowed to charge you late fees on your rent check they call my husband and tell him there is a problem with our check. I then get home to discover an eviction notice INSIDE of our apartment. So I go to the office to see what the problem is and they tell me that I wrote the wrong amount on the check and we now owe them $200 in late fees. How convenient for them that they wait until they can no longer charge us late fees to alert us to the issue. Needless to say we were quite angry.
There was never any parking other than our one assigned spot. People just let their junk cars sit and sit and never moved them, taking up spots RIGHT IN FRONT of the complex. The gates were always messed up. We had a problem with our upstairs neighbor leaving her little kids all alone while she went to work. We are talking like a 7 and 5 year old being left alone to care for a BABY!! We called the office and police numerous times. The police always came out but the lady denied doing anything. Then the office actually told her that it was us calling the cops on her so she came down and got all in our face about it. Their dang cat also got out of their upstairs apartment and jumped down on to our balcony and got stuck, not literally stuck but it couldn't go back up and it wouldn't jumped down to the next level either. I didn't know it was their cat and did not want to touch it out of fear of being bitten so I called the office. They refused to do anything about it. Finally the lady upstairs realized it was missing and came down to get it. Meanwhile I had been sitting there all day listening to the dang thing meowing loudly!! When it came time for us to renew our lease we were out of town on business with my husband's work. When we got home it was only three days past when we should have given them our sixty day notice. Well we wrote out our notice that we would be moving when our lease was up and took it to the office. We told the lady that it was a few days late and explained why and we asked her if it was still going to be okay for us to move on the day that our lease was actually up or would we have to wait until it had been exactly 60 days. She said no it was fine, that they understood why we were a few days late with it. Well a few weeks later we get a new written up lease on our door in an envelope. My husband took it to the office and explained to them that we were not renewing our lease and that we had turned in our notice and spoken with the other lady in the office. They said okay. So the time comes and we move to a much nicer apartment community. Well now we are receiving letters and phone calls from a collection agency saying that we owe the Village at Lost Creek almost $1000 for breaking our lease. Hello we didn't break it!!
This place sucks!! I could go on and on but as you can see I've already written a small book.
Please save yourself the trouble and keep driving past these apartments!!!!
