My husband and I have lived at Vista Del Rey for about 3 years now (2003-2006) and the experience has not been too horrible. The staff is friendly enough...they do the best that they can with what they have available. We moved out of our first apartment because of a severe mold problem in the bathroom. We reported it several times and each time, mantainence painted over the problem. We don't blame the mantainence men, they try their best to be helpful; we are quite sure it was an issue with funding, as the problem would have been quite expensive to repair. The leasing staff was very helpful when we needed another unit...we gave them 3 days notice and they were very accomodating. We moved into a loft and it is a cute apartment, however, it was meant for 1 person without pets...the bathroom is claustrophobic (our closet is bigger) and getting our dishwasher replaced is like pulling teeth. Again, we do not blame the staff for the condition or size of the apartment or the fact that they lack funding to make the proper repairs. The bottom line is you get what you pay for...the price is decent and the conditions are liveable. Its not the Ritz, but its quiet and affordable even if it lacks some ammenities (like running water, sometimes...you'd have to live at Vista del Rey to get that one...)
