I've lived here for a little more than a year now. I have been disappointed in MBS, the property managing company, since before I moved even moved it. The maintenance department is severely lacking in man power and support! I was locked out on my first night here while attempting to move. Result: I had to pay for a $175 emergency lock smith to open and re-key my front door. Yeah, they bit the bill but we still didn't get our garage door openers until DAYS later if not a week at the most. Since the day we moved in I have requested many of times, each and every time we discussed payment of my rent, that multiple safety issues be taken care of. Our washer and drier weren't delivered for about three weeks. Can you imagine how many clothes a young couple goes through during that amount of time. That wasn't the only problem we encountered with our drier. We kept having to do each load twice, due to a blocked vent. This went on for MONTHS, and continues to this day. The vent is blocked, and each and every maintenance guy and property manager has been informed of the issue. Nothing has been done so they bit the extremely high electrical bill for us one month. Since that month ( 8 mths ago or more ) I've had the exhaust ventilation tube detached from the wall, allowing every microscopic piece of crap to flow freely into the utility room, and throughout the house as the washer and drier are located adjacent to the AC ventilation. This also creates a fire safety issue, which they have been informed of many of times.. Nothing still. Our outlets, about half of them, maybe less, are literally hanging from the walls. The maintenance guys have said things as ridiculous as " there's nothing we can do about it" to " yeah, they're broken " and the infamous " I'll come back tomorrow to fix it." They've all said things similar to an extent or what not. The maintenance has said that the main office, that being MBS, isn't supporting them. I guess that's why I've seen soooooo many offices employees, both agents and managers rotate out of here at such a high rate. I didn't pay half of my rent which is roughly $1000 one of the first months I lived here. I told them that I felt and they knew that I hadn't received anywhere near that amount of service which would justify paying in full. They agreed and just let it be. That I guess means that since I didn't pay them full rent, that they can continue to ignore my calls for help. Maybe a letter would do some good. Hmmm.. outlets still hanging out of the walls, drier not properly ventilated, oh yeah.. our "gated community" has not been secure since May of last year. We were told, and I quote " The gate is only a false sense of security and they hadn't planned on fixing it" I moved here because it was a gated community, the gates haven't closed once in more than a year. Something about it being too expensive, or they (mbs) are looking for the lowest bidder and it's in the works.. but that comments was made back in August of last year. The pool... the two times we've wanted to go it has been closed. It looks today a lot like a stagnant mosquito pond. NICE!!!! really though, it does. the water is green and the weather is HOT. I'm paying for a pool aren't I' and a gated community aren't I' And a safe living environment. I can't dry clothes unless I monitor the drier out of fear that our apartment will burn down. I love our apartment. It's HUGE and we have an attached garage. The community is secluded and very quite from my point of view. The surrounding neighbors all seem very nice, and we all have one thing in common. WE HATE THE MANAGEMENT!!!! Seriously, ask anybody who has ever had to deal with them outside of paying rent and sighing your lease. Oh speaking of signing out lease. We weren't able to move into our apartment for an additional week because they needed to use it for show and tell.. WRONG.. when we got in finally, with the help of the lock smith at 12:15 am after calling the after-hours emergency maintenance and figuring out that MBS stood for MAJOR BULL ----!!!!that our apartment hadn't been cleaned from the previous owners, in fact it hadn't been touched since three weeks prior when we first saw the place. The carpet hadn't been shampooed and wasn't until a few 2-3 days later. It was nice having to wait to move in once you've been handed the keys and moved everything to this side of town. Luckily for us, we had a garage to store everything. They were supposed to have picked up the trash today. It's 4:18am and they were supposed to have done it around 10am, about 20hours ago. There are abandoned vehicles that I've told the maintenance and office management about that are still here. Making the place look really trashy.
I'm quite positive that there are more things wrong with my apartment and a million or so if you include everybody living here. I think you get the point. The rent is great but are the headaches and babysitting duties really worth $1300 ( the going rate for our apartment) No is my answer, but I LOVE THE VIEW. and this place has a lot of meaning to my loved one and I. We signed a new 6mth lease at the end of our initial 9mth. And one more thing. My girlfriend has lived here for 4 years now and has told me many other instances of incompetency displayed by the management.
yes, a few other things came to mind. You're not supposed to park in front of the garages, only in marked spaces. The day the letter goes out to all of us, the same person who wrote it parks her car in front of her garage. And then the a person with an enormous truck parks right behind her car and in front of their garage, causing a blockade. Now we can't park in our garage or anywhere near our apartment because we can't get to the house. This happens often and is more than an inconvenience.
