Years at this apartment: 1996 - 2009

I have lived at this apartment complex since 1996 - they were still under construction when I moved in and were considered a prestigious place to live. Over the years and change of ownership / management, the condition of the property and caliber of the residents started to decline. The MBS years were the worst and I was so tempted to move, but for me, moving would be a huge undertaking (living on the 3rd floor with large furniture) and overall costly when considering application fees, deposits, etc.
The complex was bought out late last year and for the first time in many, many years I am seeing the same friendly faces in the office and there are alot of repairs underway. The gate, which did not work for several years, is now functional...the deteriorated fence between this property and some low-income housing adjacent to us has been replaced...the roofs have been replaced...exterior painting has started...the entire parking lot/street has been re-paved and re-striped and the list goes on. Granted, alot of this is maintenance that should have been going on over the course of the years, but the fact of the matter is that these things are finally getting done ! I no longer have to put in multiple maintenance requests or do repairs myself...maintenance requests are addressed in a timely manner.
Dana, the property manager, has been extremely professional, courteous and takes her job seriously. I am very impressed with her as well as the rest of the staff.
The complaints I am reading seem to be isolated. I honestly would never move into an apartment without doing a complete walk-through / inspection prior to signing any kind of papers. So, the complaints of the condition of a particular unit when someone moves in seem rather ridiculous to me. Some other complaints also seem to be from residents who are in violation of the terms of their lease and are dealing with the repercussions of those violations. Also, not fair to post negative feedback about those situations.
I just wanted to post this review and positive feedback since I have been here for such a long time and can attest to the positive changes I am seeing. I also think it's kind of sad that someone would post a negative review here without addressing their issues with Dana and the staff first and giving them a chance to make things right.

I applaud your willingness to stay for so long. I myself was there for 3 years and was reasonably happy. My problems all started when I moved out. Because of the number of companies that had owned the property I had to sue to get my security and pet deposits back because no one would claim responsibility. Although I won the case, I have yet to see my check. I'm glad you are happy in your home. My only advice is when you leave, get it IN WRITING from the office who is responsible for returning your security deposit.

You deserved to win and you're being truthful about the management turnovers. But in all fairness, the current management shouldn't be judged by the mistakes of their predecessors.
