could be better...

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2003
I have lived in Autumn Chase for a little over a year and I agree with everyone else that the complex is old and in need of repair. I have not however had any issues with maintainence like everyone else. I must admit though, that my boyfiend grew up with BJ who is the lead maintainence. Maybe we had better treatment. I have had to put in numerous requests both summers I have been here for my a/c. I think it leaks freeon or something. I have had a couple of other issues but they were all addressed in a timely manner. The parking lot is full of potholes which only get increasingly worse everytime it rains, and speaking of rain- someone's roof always gets blown off. The walls here are very thin but since my noisy neighbors have moved out and the new apartment construction next store is finally finished things are much quieter. I have seen several complaints about the size of the apartments but I don't understand why unless they rented sight unseen. The square footage is much larger than most other one bedrooms in San Marcos for the same price. I just think that they are poorly laid out. The one closet upstairs is a drag, it took some very creative organizing to get everything in there. The "volleyball" court is full of weeds and there is no net, everything in the fitness center was broke for about nine months ( I have been told it was fixed but I'm a little nervous to use anything in there), many tenantes use their balconies for storage, my neighbor has had bed rails outside his apartment for a month, and the old one had a broken desk chair and lamp sitting in front of his door for about 3 months. I guess nothing is ever said to these people. One thing I do hate is that everthing in the model that I was shown was brand new (appliances, cabints, floors) and nothing but the carpet was new in my apartment. The fridge was full of dead bugs when I moved in. Someone wrote that the windows here are really small but actually there is an average size window in the dining room and sliding glass doors upstairs and downstairs. There is plenty of light to be had but I never open my blinds since the buildings literally are 10 feet apart and I feel like I have no privacy. There is only one cable jack but when I moved in Grande provided free cable as well as a special staple gun that hid the cables. The splitter only cost about $3. Also, the parking lot and buildings are poorly lit. I practically run to my car if I have to leave at night. Well, if you don't mind an old apartment or worrying about your roof everytime it rains then Autumn Chase isn't such a bad place. I wouldn't say this place is all bad ( the floor plan is nice if you don't like guests going into your bedroom or bathroom upstairs, there is a washer and dryer, and good access to I-35).
