I was at the Avalon for 1.5 years and never had any major issues. The grounds are alright...very plain, but generally clean. Management was always very friendly and helpful. Maintenance requests were always responded to within an hour or two and were usually fixed correctly the first time. Had a bit of a rat problem and the only action taken was the maintenance guy putting some glue traps down--completely ineffective, but it eventually worked itself out. The complex has Grande cable service which I think is a plus (compared to time warner). The apartments themselves are very old and inefficient. My power bills were always outrageous, in my 2 bedroom I almost always paid $110 . They have "community" water billing based on your floorplan, as such, it's not too proportionate if you don't use a lot of water. The closets are HUGE, the bedrooms are fairly large as well. The appliances are all very old (early-mid 80s) but I never had any issues with them. All in all, this is a decent place to live, especially if you're on a budget.
