Don't Trust the Management

My husband and I signed a lease in September of 2005 when the original management was there (Gus, manager) and promised the unit of 504. Suddenly without notice, the management changes overnight. After that change, the office staff was incompetent and never could keep it together. Mysteriously, their office was burnt down, and come to find out it was the boyfriend of the new manager! We knew that something shady was going on, but had continued interest because we loved the apartment we were going to be renting.
Lacy at the front office, along with the rest of the office staff to us were very unprofessional and incompetent. Lacy in particular would continously beat around the bush when we repeatedly visited her since Janurary until late April of this year to ensure our unit would be ready for move in, 504 the one that was signed on our contract. Instead of being honest and telling us that she leased that apartment to someone else, she said she would call her 'district manager' to see what she could do.
We never heard back from her and proceded to call back and asked for the district managers name and number. She refused to give out her number and only gave us the first name! Then, when we called back to just get our deposit back, she didn't even hesitate and told us to come and get our money!
You guys, I would be careful if you move in here. We hadn't moved in yet and we had so many problems. We loved the property and the apartment itself when we had gone close to a year before to look, however we knew that the management wouldn't change and we couldn't afford to live under them for a year! Goodluck!
