Okay, so my daughter says she's tired of living in the nasty old dorm (before the new ones were built), so she wants to live in an apartment. Naturally, since my husband and I are paying for it, we wanted something affordable with ammenities and safety features. From a parent's point of view, I highly recommend this apartment complex for the following reasons: SAFETY - there are safety alarms in every apartment on the doors and windows. CONVENIENCE - Although the rent is pretty high, I appreciate that my child has ALL BILLS PAID, and the convenience of having a washer/dryer, furniture,on-line services,cable,and a very dependable maintenance service. I'd rather pay one lump sum payment as opposed to several bills at a time. The school buses pick up the kids right there at the complex. Although the cleanliness of the property is usually above rating, the last time I visited my daughter, it looks like they are neglecting to clean the breezeways. I saw trash and what appears to look like someone vomitted all down the stairs. A good washing and cleaning in the breezeways would help. (along with the drunkards puking in their own toilets as opposed to the stairwells.) Now from my daughters prospective - she basically says it sucks! She doesn't like the fact that everybody is a crybaby tattletale whenever she wants to have some friends over. She doesn't like the fact that the buses are full when they pick her up. She doesn't like the fact that a sticker must be placed on all cars or they will get ticketed. She says the people in the office are great when you are inquiring about leasing, but then treat you like crap whenever you call up there. She says her roommate is a psycho-weirdo who stares at her all the time. She says she'd rather move in a place where students can sit out on the balconies and laugh and get loud with music if they want to. She also says this is definitely NOT a fun place to live. She also says this is more like a "retirement home". What I didn't like is the fact that they make you sign a renewal lease SIX months before your actual lease is up. Oh, and the thing about the "lease for 12 months get a month free", basically --------. (excuse me). But it's true. I thought we'd get our rent at a much lower amount, factoring in the one month free, yet at the end of signing the lease, the dollar amounts factored to $70 MORE than the actual price, and in essence, you ARE paying for your "free month." Typical -------- that goes along with running a business and making a profit. So, there you have BOTH sides of the story. Parents LOVE this place because it's like placing your child in a safe environment with a bunch of other students who are 20 going on 40. And kids hate it because they feel they are living nextdoor to grandma and grandpy.
