Horrible living community

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2005

I have been living at Bobcat Village for over 2 years now and my lease ends in Aug. 2005 (seriously praising the Lord). When first arriving of May 2003 I signed a lease with a guy manager who was absolutely great! The price at that time for a 2 bedroom/2 bath was $547/month. During June or July of 2004 the management was switched over without informing any of the current tenants. Once this happened the worst started. The management knocked down the rent to $469/month that summer and claimed their headquarters in Austin told them to do so. Being told from the previous management that signing our lease by the end of March 2004 would reserve our same apartment with the same price. (And if some reason the prices went down our lease would go down to that price). By not signing a lease at this time would give away our apartment when our lease was up and if we decided to go back to Bobcat we would have to move into a different apartment on the property. (Big waste of time). So thinking this was the best deal with our bills being paid, we signed the lease in March to end in Aug 2005. (Our previous lease was not up until Aug 2004...and yes they had us sign another lease already in March!) My roommate and I along with two of my other friends decided to go ask if we would get granted the cheaper rent and tried to pay the cheaper rent. We were immediately knocked down and billed for the remainder of the rent. We took our parents in on numerous occasions to discuss this with the managers and were told that since we signed that lease we had to pay what we signed. Okay so that was the end of that, tired of the headaches and arguing with people who we knew were trying to screw us.

The problem with paying this high of rent while other tenants were paying lower prices when we had been there longer arose this question....What would we do if we wanted to sub-lease the apartment in the summer' Well we'd have to knock down the price to cheaper than what they had it to at the time...so all in all it really isn't helping us out and we still get screwed again in the end.

The 2 bedroom/2 bath is 745 square footage. I have been out looking at other apartments and found better prices for the square footage. The prices now for a 12 month lease for this apartment are down to $469 with all bills included, this is a really good deal. What I'm paying is not. I think I was here at a bad time (when the management was being switched over) and for that reason I have had a bad experience. Good luck to any future tenants.
