Honest to God's Truth

First and foremost, the good reviews are all written by the staff or other affilliates of this apartment or TSU, so what they have to say is not the truth.
I first moved into Bobcat Village in 2004. I did the roomate matching and ended up with a nice roommate (probably the only good thing about this apartment). Well, when my roommate graduated I was left to get a new roommate. I had filed out their "roommate matching" form and put on there that I was a quiet, very neat, and tidy person. I specifically stated that I was not a person who is loud or throws parties. The new roommate I got was the exact opposite. She was dirty, and every other night she would have weird older men in our apartment, which I was not comfortable with because she had met them over the internet. I had notified the office several times about her and asked on several different occasion for one of us to be moved. Not to mention, I was ALWAYS cleaning up after her. I went out of town for Spring Break ony to come back to an apartment that was trashed so bad, that there were roaches crawling around everywhere. This was the breaking point and I finally demanded that they move me. After 3 weeks, I got moved into a one bedroom. For this, I have say their roommate matching is a joke! Management doesn't know how to take care of problems.
Here is what to expect if you live there:
1. Expect all of your friends to get parking tickets. Within the 2 years I had lived there they wrote out probably 20 different tickets, not to mention tickets to me, and towing my friend's truck. I received a ticket for parking in a visitor's spot and they made me pay it saying they would hold my grades if I didn't.
2. You're going to lied to! When I signed my lease, I was told all bills were paid. I know that is one of their "big selling points". Well, that's a lie. When I moved into my one bedroom they started charging me for electric and water. When I confonted them about this they informed me that "I misunderstood" and I only receive a $60 discount on those bills. I was NEVER told this!
3. You will never get sleep. If you are a light sleeper, then this place is not for you. The train station or stop is right behind the complex. Every hour or sometimes every 30 minutes, the train will go by laying n the horn for a good 2 minutes straight. This happens every day and night. It got to the point that I was dreaming about people getting hit by trains, because the train was so loud when I was sleeping that I thought for sure some car had been hit.
4. The maintenance staff is nice but not trained well in all areas. I had my A/C break and I called them about it at 9:30 in the morning (it was July, and it was so hot in my apartment it woke me up because I was sweating so bad). It took me calling every hour that they were open for someone to finally come in and try fix it 2 days later. And this is the dead heat of summer. When they did come, they said they had to order the part and it wouldn't be in until 3 business days. Come on guys it's 999 degrees outside, make the exception and go buy the part. Aside from that my fridge was leaking and the guy who came in to fix it had supposedly been a fridge repair man for years, but my friend had to tell him how to fix it.
5. Don't expect to get on the bus for at least 30 minutes. Sure they have buses going through the apartment constantly, but Bobcat Village is the last stop and by the time they come around to the apartment, the buses are full. They used to come around to the back of the building, but they changed it to the front. So, they now have a commuter lot that is not even in use. If it's pouring down rain don't try to dive up to the front of the building and park, because you will get a ticket.
6. Expect ants. There is a problem with them there and they don't exterminate. I had called on many occasions and they never came in, I finally took care of it myself.
7. The staff is rude and dishonest. I had an many incidents with a packages I had sent here. A hard drive was bought online and once FedEx showed it had arrived I went to the office to pick it up. Well, the office said thye had not received it; although it was showing online that it was received and someone from the front office signed for it. I called FedEx to get a fax of the signiture confirmation and brought it into the office and showed them. The signee was indeed employed there, but he had no recollection of siging for that package. After a week of telling them I was going to file charges, the package "magically" appeared. The box was opened and re-taped. I even went so far as to ask the shipping place if they had re-taped it. Negative, they had not. I'm not trying to incinuate anything, but it is shady.
I guess I'm done highlighting the bad points about this apartment, and I could go on, but I think I've said enough. There are over 30 different apartment complexes in San Marcos, I'm positive you can find one much better than here. Honestly, I would not live here even if rent was free!

Wrong, wrong, wrong. All bills are paid. If you go with a potluck roommate, then getting a sh!tty one is a risk you take, the staff has never been nothing but nice. And no, I don't work for BV. I'm from out of state and have been extremely happy with my experience here thus far.

No, if you exceed a $60 electric bill then you pay the difference...that does not mean all bills paid! And yes, you are right, having them assign you a roommate is a risk, but you know what, when I signed my lease to live there I filled out a roommate matching form and obviously it was completely different than what I had stated. If there was ever any problem with the roommate I was told it would be fixed, but I waited and weeks later on, then it was worked out. I'm happy you are having an enjoyable experience there, but I didn't and I would never recommend this place to anyone. If Bobcat Village had any God given common sense they would find out why most people aren't happy living here, but they don't, you know why...because they don't care! And knowing the way thye are you probably do work for them.
