I've read all the other comments, and I'm not shocked. I grew up in the country, fixing my own stuff, so Bracewood wasn't that bad for me. I moved to Bracewood because it's quiet--not like so many of the "college" apartments in San Marcos. At night, I can sleep without hearing Frat Monkeys partying all night.
You do have to fix everything yourself, but I've never been afraid of fixing a toliet or sink. They don't clean the apartments before you move in, but I've always believed a little dirt never hurt anyone. This place is run-down and in need of great repair, but for $450 a month for 900 sq ft, what exactly do you expect'
If you pay your rent on time and are self-reliant, Bracewood can be a great place to live. I've had adventures with birds and mice and insects, and my stairs have to be "repaired" every few months, but all in all, I have loved my experience at Bracewood.
I realize it isn't for everyone. You have to be willing to hold your own... this is definitely not for the faint of heart, but if you don't mind a few adventures, and if being left alone is important to you, Bracewood can be a wonderful experience.

It might be a great place for a few but for me and my family and several others i see on here, Bracewood and management just didnt work for us. The roaches were horrible, and you cant say i needed to clean more, im such a clean freak you could have eaten off my floors, we were lucky if they sprayed once every 2 years(tenants for almost 6). And then miss mcintyre or whatever her name is, starting allowing sex offenders move into bracewood, knowing damn good and well that there were many many children in the neighborhood. talk about being all about the money, with absolutely no regard for the kids!!!! go to familywatchdog.com and see just how many live near you, its creepy. oh and they just shut down a meth lab in bracewood, that should make you feel even more secure! have fun in being self suffeciate and good luck to you!!
