I lived in Clarewood for about a year and i loved it there. It's a good sized apartment for the price (was $650 for 650 sq ft 1 bedroom w/ washer dryer and walkin closet and pool/hottub)and is well maintained.
I will complain that they painted the outside of the entire complex an ugly green color. It used to be a lovely beige w/ white trim and red brick exterior w/ hunter green accents (doors, railings, etc) and they repainted it w/ a hiddeous green w/ dark purple accents! horrible choice, but at least they maintain the property.
Andrea and the other guy that worked in the office (can't remember his name) were amazing! Very friendly and helpful...some of the best apartment office staff that I've seen.
The maintence workers were prompt w/ work orders and even helped me when my dog locked me out of the apartment! lol
Oh it's true that some irresponsible dog owners leave their dog poo. There's no excuse for those ppl bcuz the apartment provide doggy cleanup stations w/ plenty of bags. It wasn't a huge problem, but something i did see. There's people like that everywhere though.
Overall i loved it and would live here again!

Yeah, I wasn't a working professional or someone w/ a family of four or anything... I'm sure for someone like that there'd be higher standards and expectations, but for an older college student living alone w/ a dog, it was a good deal and a pleasant experience.
My one complaint, that i did forget to add... Before moving out you have to give 90 days notice which i have never heard of before! It was in the contract, but slipped my mind until they sent out a reminder notice about 60-80 days out that i needed to provide 90 notice to move out. It was kind of annoying that the notice came so late and that they required sooo much advanced notice, but at the same time, some apartments don't give any sort of reminders.
I still stand by my previous post. I had a overall good experience and my next door neighbor did as well. Those that didn't hopefully spent an extra $200 and moved to a more upscale complex, like Dakota Ranch or something. Though it's going to be hard in San Marcos to find apartments w/o drunken college kids or people playing volleyball ...good luck w/ that.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. THE GROUNDS LOOKED GOOD, THE VOLLEYBALL COURT IS COOL AND THEY TAKE BIG DOGS BUT, THE APARTMENTS ARE OLD AND THE PLUMING IS ALWAYS ACTING UP, THEY DON'T PAY CABLE OR ANYTHING, THERE IS DOG s**T EVERYWHERE AND CAR BREAK INS. THE MANAGER AND MAINTENANCE GUY SEEM TO BE CLUELESS. I'M NOT TRYING TO BE A JERK, JUST HONEST. I WOULD RECOMMEND HIGHCREST OR EVEN THE MET OVER THIS PLACE.

we have been treated rudely and inconsiderately by this manager; as is often the case, when you have a manager living on property, they can get it twisted and start treating the residents like they are GUESTS in THEIR house, instead of paying customers who they have been hired to serve.
