I would not recommend living here. The place is not kept up whatsoever, and Skiles Real Estate is the worst landlord I've ever rented from. They rarely respond to maintenance concerns. Do not expect to get your deposit back - unexpected fees will suddenly show up, and you will be charged for things like "painting" - which they will not actually even do. The apartment was very dirty when I moved in, yet I was expected to complete an unrealistic cleaning list upon move-out. They are the evil slum lords of San Marcos, stay AWAY!!!

We rented from Skiles at another property and got burned!! They are slum lords who do not take care of the property when repairs were pointed out. They charged outrageous move-out expenses above our deposit. Skiles refused to answer our questions in writing concerning paint charges, cleaning, etc. Instead of getting our questions answered, we were sent to collections. DO NOT RENT FROM SKILES!!

You're absolutely right about them. They charge for steam cleaning on your way out, a service I know they don't do because my carpet was in terrible shape when I moved in. I The best thing to do is to send in your complaint to the attorney general. Filing a complaint is free, and you can download the form at... http://www.oag.state.tx.us/consumer/complaintform.pdf If the attorney general receives at least four complaints, he will investigate Skiles. Naturally, the more complaints he receives, the more concerned he will be.
