This apartment is okay (depending on your expectations) its ghetto and cheap rent, so you get what you pay for, but Ill list the good and the bad, and you can decide for yourself if the lower rent is worth it. The bad: The carpet in our apartment was horrible and filthy from day one, and definitely wasnt cleaned before I moved in. I did notice that when my neighbors moved out they replaced that particular units carpet before new tenants moved in, so carpet might not be a problem for all units. There is spackle everywhere on the walls and its obvious it was never touched up with paint. This complex is notorious for drug dealers, and I even smell pot (an extremely popular drug in this city) coming from my neighbors apartment when I sit on my balcony, though pot is the least of the drug problems at this apartment. I can name at least two tenants who reside here that really should be in assisted living because theyre obviously have mental illness (Im not saying that to mean, its the truth, even the workers in the office agree). There is one maintenance guy who makes all the females here uncomfortable (NOT Tommy, but the tall somewhat heavy white man); he tends to stare at girls a little too much and just gives off a creepy vibe. Perry is the manager over this complex and definitely BE AWARE of her! Perry will lie about tenants, and co-workers, to save herself from getting in trouble with the owners of our complex. For example Perry offered us discounted rent, but when it came to backing it up and putting the discounted rent on the lease Perry tried to retract the offer without our knowledge. Perry also showed personal/legal information about me to people who were not authorized to view it (I could have taken her to court for this and was very tempted after some of her other actions). When I confronted Perry about revealing my personal information to those unauthorized, she immediately responded that Jodi (a co-worker) must have done it, even though we know it was Perry. We complained to the owners about Perry and her going back on the lowered rent offer, the owners then confronted Perry about the offer. Perry then stated she NEVER agreed to a lowered rent. We had to fight the owners for the lowered rent, but once we told them about the fact that Perry was revealing personal information about me to unauthorized individuals and I was speaking to lawyers about it, the owners were suddenly more than willing to give us the agreed upon discounted rent. Even the employees here complain about Perry and I know of three who have quit because of Perry and her dishonesty (Jodi quit the same day she realized Perry was using her as a scapegoat for her actions). So in other words, Perry cannot be trusted and she is NOT a good apartment manager, but the owners do not seem to be getting rid of her; so watch out for yourself by watching out for Perry first and foremost. Rats have also been a problem here, but it has gotten better. The maintenance does supply rat traps if you complain, and if you catch a dead rat they will come get it. Weve caught three in our apartment alone. It used to be much worse, the rats were getting into our cabinets and opening food and we would also wake up to rat pellets everywhere in the kitchen. But since catching the three rats we dont have as much of a problem, though I did find fresh pellets in a cabinet last week and Im keeping an eye on it. So rats are a constant problem, and it may be sometime before they are able to completely fix this problem. The dishwashers here are what I call barbie sized (I didnt even know they made a dishwasher that small), but its not the size that bothers us, its the fact that they dont clean the dishes at all. In fact when we did use it the water never completely drained from the bottom at the end of the wash cycle and the food was still stuck on the dishes. Now we wash everything by hand, and that is working fine for us. The good: As others have said, rain does cause part of the parking lot to flood but it does drain quickly and it has never really bothered me too much. Tommy is an excellent maintenance guy and tries to get everything done quickly. I dont even watch him when hes in my apartment, because he has been very trustworthy so far and nothing has ever been missing. The complex does have a lot of big trees which are nice and the pool seems to be kept up (though Ive never used it). Theyve put brighter lights on the outside, so I dont really feel unsafe going from my car to my apartment after dark, but I know some would like even more lighting. Allan (the main employee in the office right now) has always been nice to us, and seems to feel for residents at this complex. The kitchens here are HUGE and that is a nice perk. Also wireless internet is included with the rent, which is part of the reason I choose this complex. I havent ever used the on-site laundry facility here (they DONT offer W/D or W/D hookups in units), but Ive been in the facility and it always seems to be clean and the W/D seem to all work. There have been times when people have fought and caused huge disturbances in the parking lot, but police were called and people involved were evicted immediately after that event (as they should be if they are causing so many disturbances and danger to others), so the management does try to keep us safe. Sometimes youll hear music from other units, but Ive been lucky to have neighbors who will turn it down if you ask them to. Other than that noise is not a problem, and its usually very quiet
