Bad Management

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2009

I have lived in the complex for 3 years, and between my 2nd and 3rd year the management changed. They decided to remodel much of the complex, including new vinal, furniture, blinds, and other things of that nature. For the two previous years, my roommate and i had never had a SINGLE problem with any aspect. The new vinal they placed in the kitchens is cheap, the caulking job (by their own admission) was done EXTREMELY poorly, the new furniture is a NASTY pleather, that even upon jumping on the cushions it is like sitting on plastic. My roommate and i are very tidy, and had done absolutely no damage to anything in the apartment, yet the maintainence came in and told us that we would receive new blinds if ours were damaged so THEY proceded to completely bend, break and damage the blinds in our livingroom. Three months later, after I made MANY complaints about our destroyed blinds, they finally came and replaced them. My roommate made maintainence requests for the same problem at least 5 times before it was repaired. We know that maintainence was entering our apartment while we were not home, even though they were not leaving any form of notice. We know for a fact that they stole out of our apartment more than once. I have personally encountered the issue of the office staff LOSING my rent check, then they told me that I was on notice of being evicted. When i called to find out what the issue was, the person i was required to speak with was not in, so i went by the next morning, she was not in again. It took me nearly four days to reach the woman, and then she just told me that i never paid my rent. When i tried to tell her all the information, like the time of day i turned it in, the day of the week, the check number, and all the details, she told me i was wrong and only after i fought with her to ask others did she actually stop blaming me to get up and ask the other office employees. They never found my check, so on top of having to go and get a money order i also had to place a stop payment on my check and incurred a fee. A few weeks ago, the complex threw a pool party that was SOOO loud, it woke me up, and even had to be broken up at 1PM by the police because it was that disturbing. The complex does NOT follow the quiet hours set by the city of San Marcos on any night. Now my lease does not end for another 3 1/2 months, but i was told today that if i do not resign within the next 7 days I will not be able to keep my apartment. The management does not care that it is more than 100 days before the end of my lease, and i am only required to give them a 60 day notice, Kim, the community manager told me that the complex can give you notice if they want you to move out. So even though i have lived happily in the same apartment for the last 3 years i am being forced to either pay over $100 more than i was or do ALL my apartment hunting in the next 7 days (3 of which by the way are holidays).
DO NOT MOVE INTO THE ZONE!!!!
if management changes again, i would recommend giving it a try, but Kim is rude, and an EXTREMELY poor complex manager. lGjq8RUBjvsZjkb5ueji
