Don't Break Your Lease

We had to break our lease because my husband moved unexpectedly. According to the lease you can not get out of the lease for work relocation. Which was fine I understand so we paid the $750 to get out of the lease. Well then you have to pay for each month your apartment isn't least after you leave, which was three months for us. They charged us for all three months. Apparently after asking a neighbor our apartment was leased out two weeks after we left. We shouldn't have had to pay for any of those months. When called they said it still wasn't leased out. Well I looked on rent.com to see the vacancies and our apartment wasn't listed. I don't care if it ruins my credit I refuse to pay them the additional $3000 they say we owe them.
