Almost 1 year and happy here

I think some of the complaints about noisy neighbors is just the luck of the draw. My neighbors are very nice and considerate. I can hear some bumping on the kitchen wall from the apartment behind me, but that's just normal. Otherwise, I cannot hear any TVs, microwaves, vacuum cleaners or other noises from any of the other apartments. I do sometimes hear some talking, but it's not bad, and I can hear it only because I usually do not have a TV or music turned on so all noises are easier for me to hear when my apartment is so silent. I also live on the top floor so I don't have to worry about noises from anyone above me.
Parking also depends on the luck of the draw. My apartment faces a field, and there's plenty of parking for everyone in this area. In fact, it's not unusual to get the first parking spot. Even on heavy parking days, the worst I've had to do is park a little further down the row. I've never had to park anywhere other than right in front of my building.
I have had no problems with maintenance at all. Every request has been handled promptly and to my satisfaction. They've even installed extras for me, such as a ceiling fan and dimmer switches, without any charge. When I leave, if I want, they'll also remove these things at no charge so I can take them with me. This is a very nice bonus!
The management before now was rather lax which meant there were things that did not get done, such as putting my phone number into the front gates. However, they were just as lax on other things which were to my advantage so it evened out. The main thing is to understand how to work with people, and if you are pleasant to them, they will be pleasant back to you.
The new management is working hard to catch up the things the previous management did not handle. Staci is trying very hard. And while she is trying to do things properly which can be a bit of a pain, such as an eviction notice just hours after forgetting my rent payment, she does other things that are helpful, such as giving me a notice in writing that I have permission for my aquariums as I'm supposed to have. This protects me if there is ever a question later. Staci also gets things done, and I expect she'll have things in the office working smoothly very soon.
The area itself is quiet which I like. I can hear the traffic on the road, but it's not bad, kind of a low white noise. The road construction on Hwy 59 makes it a bit difficult to get in and out during rush hour, but that's not the apartment's fault, and once the construction is completed, it'll be very easy to get in and out no matter what the time.
There are many nice amenities close by, such as grocery stores, gas stations, fast food restaurants, dry cleaners, and doctors offices to name just a few. You don't have to go very far to get what you need. I find it easy to stop off on my way home.
The only concern I have is security as there is no full-time security personnel on the premises at any time. So far, I have not heard of any cars or apartments being broken into, but the risk is definitely there. I minimize this risk by keeping my car cleaned out and keeping my lights on even when I'm gone. Timers can help with this if you need to leave for more than a day. Each apartment is already wired with security alarms which you can use if you want to hire a security company to turn them on. You can also have your apartment's security alarm monitored if you want. This is, of course, for an extra charge, but for some, this may be a good idea.
The landscaping isn't the best, but it's not bad either. They do pick up the trash so the complex is clean even though there are some residents who litter. I watched the maintenance personnel pick up every tiny piece of firecrackers and other fireworks after the 4th of July in which some of the young adult residents left behind. These people made a huge mess, but it was all cleaned up first thing the next morning. They really worked hard to get even small pieces of trash.
I also must compliment the floor plan for my particular apartment as it is very smartly laid out, offering a large living room, very large bathroom, good sized bedroom and kitchen and a wonderful 12' x 8' balcony (not including the storage area). The W/D is directly across from the bathtub so the shower curtain rod doubles as a clothes hanger when taking clothes out of the dryer. Very convenient.
Overall, while there are a few drawbacks, for the most part I have found living here a pleasant experience. I just signed a new contract today.
