I have lived at Parkside Apts. for almost 3 years and as a 17 year property management veteran, I know how management is supposed to work at the property level.
My experiences with the office staff (transient) have been okay. Not once have any of the office staff ever shown the level of professionalism that should be expected of them.
As a resident, I should never hear the words "yeah, that happens in my apartment, too", as if my complaint or problem is unimportant to the staff. As the representative of the owner of the property, management shouldn't ever give a glib answer to a resident's complaint. The resident's complaint may sound minor to the management staff, but remember, this is the residents home and every problem they encounter is very important to them. Fixing problems in apartments is the job of the management and maintnenace staff and really shouldn't require much effort on the part of the staff members.
What the management of any apartment community has to understand is that you can be professional and helpful to your residents and at the same time, maintain a high level of maintenance, landscaping and housekeeping standards. This isn't rocket science, but it does require training and excellent customer service skills.
The Parkside staff just doesn't keep the property as nice as is should be; the landscaping could be nicer, there is too much trash in and around the shrubs/groundcover and there are too many missing building light covers. The emergency exterior lights did not work after Hurricane IKE. All it takes to maintain these lights is a monthly testing and changing out the batteries. There are companies in Houston that offer the service.
I'll stay at Parkside, only because it's such a pain to move. SROlYjGrgm2VnM-SactV
