I have lived at this apartment complex for a year and a half so far, and I don't plan on moving anytime soon.
PARKING*****
The parking is assigned so you are guaranteed a spot no matter what time you come home. The parking lot still has plenty of spots for guests as well, (in assigned areas).
NOISE LEVEL****
Due to the age of the buildings they are not very well insulated for noise so sometimes you can hear people walking around above you and the occasional loud stereo, but other than that there aren't very many things that are bothersome. You'd get the same amount of noise level if you lived in a house in a neighborhood. It's very tollerable.
GROUND*****
The grounds are very well maintained. I think the landscapers come out once a week and mow and trim the hedges. I have yet to see dog feces since there is only a certain area dog owners must walk their dogs.
SAFETY*****
There is 24 hour securtiy. There are always neighbors looking out for each other. I have never heard of any disturbances nor have I encountered any at this community. Twice since I've lived here there has been a notice placed on my door warning of shady characters that someone has seen lurking on the property. The notice instructs anyone who sees shady charcters to call either the 24 hour security or to call the local police. They DO NOT tollerate anyone on the premises with alterior motives. They have No Trespassing signs posted and they are strictly enforced.
CONSTRUCTION****
This complex is approximatly 20 years old. I believe they did a remodel in about 2000. The appliances are all new and some apartments come with a microwave mounted over the stove (at no extra cost) to save on counter space. It is not a brand new complex but has been very well kept over the years. The carpet in my apartment was new when I moved in and the walls were freshly painted. I have seen very few bugs, but that is normal in this area of Texas: a few, spiders, 2 or 3 silver fish, 1 ant, and I have only seen 1 small roach. They do spray twice a year, and on an as needed basis.
MAINTENANCE*****
When I call for maintenance the order is placed that day and is usually handled the following day if it is small enough. If they must follow up it is done in a reasonable amount of time. When they fix things it is done correctly the first time, I've never had to call for them to re-fix a problem. They leave a message either on my counter inside or attached to my front door anytime they've been inside stating the reason for their entry into my apartment.
OFFICE STAFF*****
From the day I moved in the office staff have been extreemly friendly and helpful. They've changed leasing agents a couple times but it has remained under the same manager (Carol). I had one problem with a noisy neighbor and I called the office to report it and they handled it without incident. There are informative montly newsletters sent out to keep the tenants in the loop of interesting facts. They also offer big discounts for referrals.
OVERALL*****
This is not just an apartment complex, it's an acctual community. The neighbors are friendly and courteous. I think the leasing office management does a great job of screening the prospective tenants to keep out the riff-raff.

Texas City teen dead after shooting 08:40 AM CDT on Monday, May 22, 2006 By Greg Barr / Galveston County Daily News Texas City teen dead after shooting 08:40 AM CDT on Monday, May 22, 2006 By Greg Barr / Galveston County Daily News TEXAS CITY -- Police are looking for the community's help to solve the weekend killing of a 13-year-old Texas City boy. Assistant District Attorney Bret Griffin said the victim, Elton Francis, was discovered between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday by a group of youths in a grassy area near the Fountain Lake Apartments at 9001 Glacier. The victim, a resident of the apartments, had been shot twice in the head. He was transported that afternoon to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and died Sunday. No witnesses to the shooting have been identified, but the investigation is continuing, according to Sgt. Brian Goetschius with the department's criminal investigation division. "If anyone has some information, we would like to interview them," Goetschius said Sunday. "We aren't really sure of the circumstances yet. We're just putting the pieces of the puzzle together." Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Texas City police at (409) 683-5760. This story is available through KHOU, Ch. 11's partnership with The Galveston County Daily News. |
