Lakewood is an older set of apartments that has benefitted greatly from the area around it moving upscale in the last 10 or 15 years. The area is actually quite nice, and the apartments are right on HWY 249, so it's easy to get going. Willowbrook Mall is right down the road, as well as just about any store you'll need. The location generally leads to a rather safe place to live.

There's not much to recommend the apartments, but they were quiet for the most part. Utilities were high when I was there (I moved into a 4 bedroom house from a 1 bedroom apartment and my electric bill went DOWN). The landscaping was not good, there was a cemetery right in the middle of the apartments, the middle open area held water after it rained, and the appliances were old.

Management seemed reasonably good, although I didn't have much contact with them. They never lost the rent check, were always there during business hours if you needed them, and generally were friendly and helpful.

All in all, I would pay a little more and move into one of the newer places nearby.
