Going Downhill Fast

Used to be one of the best places in Tyler to live, but in the last two years has headed downhill quickly. Office is often closed at random times, staff and grounds crew often outside office doors smoking. Landscaping has gone downhill, often hard to get issues fixed in apartments. Professionalism of management has dropped drastically. Reminders and notes left on doors are often poorly worded and rude. Notices about water shut offs or apartment entries are given under reasonable periods of time, often the same day as issue, sometimes no notice is given. Trash pickup is not performed well, bags of trash are left outside apartments over two days in the Texas heat. Supposed to be picked up by lunch at least. Have been left there when I left for work, came home from work, and left the next morning. Noise level has increased, not really the fault of the management, but walls are thin and sounds and smells can be transmitted through walls both beside and below or above.

First of all, this office is ran by one full time person and a part-time person and there are times when I am out on property showing units, walking move out units and handling resident issues. This job requires more than just sitting behind a desk. Secondly, there are emergency situations which require the shut down of water that a beyond anyones controll, beleive me when we can forsee any situation that may be an inconveince to our residents we do everything that we can to notify them of what is taking place. As far as the rest of these comments I will not even justify them with any further response, as the person that wrote this feels that they have been treated unjustly.

First of all, let me say I???m not trying to belittle or say these apartments are the worst in town, not by any means, just that they are going downhill. This is a great opportunity for the management, but it must be realized or it will continue along this path. Why attack me personally when I???m just offering my experiences? I've been with these apartments for nearly 4 years and in sister properties for nearly 7 years. For that loyalty I now get to pay more than a new renter coming in for the first time. I don???t know, seems backwards to me, but its not so much that as it is small things that could make a big impact on the grounds and feel of the complex. I???m training to be a physician and I just think its worth really looking at all aspects of a problem before writing it off. In surgery everyone has to do their job right, maybe I just expect too much. There is rotting wood and broken gutters around my apartment that spill water on the patio and allow birds to nest in the structure of the buildings. These are small things that make a big impact; they could be fixed relatively easy. I can???t take a cold shower after working out or wash my clothes in cold water because after having my faucets worked on 3 times I now have no cold water. Again, easily fixed, large impact on tenants. Why attack me personally when I???m just offering my experiences? Write me off as ???someone who feels they have been wronged??? or ???can???t be happy no matter how good they have it??? but that won???t benefit the complex or its tenants, or staff for that matter. These are opportunities for management to make a real impact on their complex???s reputation. I won???t be here that much longer since I???m off to school, but when you can go 10 minutes south to another complex for $20 less and get marble countertops, its time to start listening and not getting upset when someone voices their experiences. It is a great place to live, I never said it wasn???t, just needs to be kept up if it wants to survive as a great place to live. As to me being upset because I???m breaking the rules, let???s not get personal, that???s a logical fallacy called ad hominem and it does nothing but detract from the factual issues at hand. Attack the substance of my arguments if you want, but let???s not get into personal attacks. Bottom line: The apartments are good, but are heading downhill fast, changes need to be made to reverse that trend and allow the complex to survive as one of the greatest places in Tyler. Oh, and I???m happy quite often :)

I completely disagree with you. I have always received proper notice when the water is shut off or they need to enter our apartment, except in case of an emergency or the water pipes had UNFORESEEN problems, and that is beyond their control. I have never received a rudely worded notice from the office. I have received reminders of the rules and regulations that everyone else has also received but they were never rude. Maybe you found them to be rude because you were one that was breaking the rules to begin with? The trash laying out for days is NOT their fault. People don't always follow the rules and put their trash out on the wrong days, too late, or at night and that is not the fault of the apartment but the fault or the tenants breaking the rules. All tenants received a reminder about the trash rules and have begun to follow them better. I don't agree with there being a noise issue. I rarely have a problem with it and when I have I complained and it was properly taken care of. I almost NEVER hear my neighbors. The walls are not too thin. I think you exaggerated about the staff and grounds crew OFTEN outside the office smoking. And even if it does happen on occasion, everyone deserves a break! I think you are the type of person that just can't be pleased, no matter how good you have it. This is still a great place to live in Tyler.
