Since the apartment complex was bought out it has improved. The maintenance staff now is prompt, courteous and efficient and seem to go the extra mile to take care of the tenants. The office staff is much friendlier than before and treat you with respect. Overall the complex is quiet and all my neighbors seem friendly. We have not had a problem with bugs, except the one time that we had ants but then I discovered a cookie under the couch that my 2-year old had stuffed under there; I removed the cookie and the ants left. Parking is more than adequate, most of the time I can park right outside my apartment door. On the negative side the limited access gate is often broken, the dryers take a really long time and the playground is not well-kept and there is not appropriate for pre-school children, however I think they may intend to work on that. The new management has made a lot of improvements and are still in the process of making the Emerald Ridge Apartments a better place to live. For the price however, and the proximity to UT-Tyler I think the Emerald Ridge is a very good choice for college students, even married students with children like myself.
