My thoughts on this property.

This is my honest opinion on this apartment complex. I've only lived here for 3 1/2 months, I still currently live here, but have no intention of re-newing my lease. I don't believe it's so much that the complex and workmanship is bad, it's just an old complex that needs to be maintained better. This is a 180 facility apartment complex, they have 1 maintenance man. Occasionally another man helps with work orders, but only 1 on-duty maintenance man.

My Experience thus far, has been.. mediocre, it is most definately not my favorite complex, but I have seen worse.
- The carpet in the apartment is trash, bleach stains, paint on the floors, overall just looks terrible. Patches missing in a few areas around the apartment.
- From day one the dishwasher and dryer never worked. Took 2 weeks for them to even look at the dishwasher, but then again, 1 maintenance man. The dishwasher was fixed fairly promptly, however incorrectly. After they had "fixed" the dishwasher, a 'magical' puddle of water began developing on the carpet directly in front of dishwasher.
- The weather stripping on the front door was next to nothing, at least a 1/4" of a gap was
visible from the inside. So we were quite literally cooling the outside.
- Our toilet started leaking, took 3 days for someone to even come look at that, took 5 seconds to fix, not to mention the person who handled that situation came into my home with pink-eye.
- To this day, since the dishwasher began leaking. There is, and has been, mold developed at the front door, so you can only imagine the lovely smell as you walk out the front door.
- There was not a bug in sight at this apartment, until we signed the lease. They were very willing to have pest control come and spray for bugs, however, they're still here.
- Another problem, My next door neighbor's bathroom ceiling collapsed. Sopping wet with the leaking air conditioner, it flooded her apartment.

Don't get me wrong, the management -I- find rather helpful, and/or willing to help, and the maintenance man is a good guy, doing the best he can by himself. I'm not telling you do or do not live in these apartments, I'm just saying.. they suck.

-------------------------------------------

I have now lived in these apartments for 10 months, and still very unimpressed. The managment has changed, ever so slightly, have had no issue with them. However the maintenence man is different. Although he seems like he could be a good guy, I don't particularly care for him. I steadily get dirty looks from him, and of course he can't drive.

A few weeks ago, there was a fire in my building, and electrical fire. The wiring for the lighting that hangs between the two apartment doors, apparently was done incorrectly. Needless to say, there were 4 firetrucks 2 police cars that I could see, and 1 rescue truck. At least Waco does have good response time. Within all this commotion
the maintenance man was walking around like nothing was going on, on his cellphone (assuming calling the management). After about an hour, they go and shut the power off to the whole building... WHOLE building, there's 16 apartments to a building. The fire was between 2, but whatever. So we deal without power for about 30 minutes, They cut the power back on, after hearing the manager say that "everything's under control, it's no big deal." .... No big deal' The building is on fire, and it's no big deal.

I found out from the cleaning lady that night, that right before I moved in, there was another fire in the building right next to ours, apparently fires are quite popular around here.

There have been quite a few incidents that management doesn't like to mention.

I wasn't here for the incident, but I do know that somewhere towards the entrance to the complex, there was a shooting. Rumor has it, that it was over drugs, other rumors say that someone was trying to break into a resident's car, either way you look at it. Someone got shot.

Also, I live in a downstairs unit, and unless your upstairs neighbors are missing legs, you will hear, every move that they will ever make. Unfortunately, mine, don't ever sleep, or one works days and the other works nights, regardless, I listen to steady thumping and bumping 24/7.

Living in a neighborhood with loud vehicles has never bothered me, never will. However, living in a neighborhood where people will park outside your building, with the stereo systems all nice and loud for no apparent reason at 11:00 at night, tends to put you in a foul mood while you're trying to sleep. I'm a fan of bass myself, just not while I'm trying to sleep, and it happens all the time.

I also found this out the night of the electrical fire, the building that for most of my lease that I believed the be a nursing home for the elderly, turns out to be a home for "psychos." Yes, that's right, it is a home for people who are "psycho." That sure makes me feel safe sleeping each night.

So, Perhaps if you have a stronger will then I do, this is the place for you. But for the average human who would just like to live peacefully, don't live here. And now I must go, because a car alarm just went off in the parking lot, and I need to make sure my truck is still here.
