What a terrible, lazy idea

First of all, let me say that I do not and have never lived at the LL Sams apartment complex. I did visit someone who lived there, however, and was so enraged by the outrageous price and lack of livable design that I had to write this review. I'm extremely picky about apartments, and though LL Sams may seem good compared to some of the other ones around Waco, it is far from good at all.
The price is the obvious downfall in the situation. All utilities must be paid by the tenant, and even the cheapest unit is well over a dollar per square foot, which is unacceptable in Waco. No other apartments that I can think of in Waco cost more than a dollar per square foot; it just doesn't happen. If LL Sams were one half or even two thirds of the current rent, then it would be pretty decent, but still an old factory.
That brings me to my next point. Whoever decided to waste money turning a factory into a so-called luxury apartment was obviously only in it for the gullible students' money. Perhaps a more concerned owner would have bought the land, leveled the old factory, and built a new foundation and a new complex with a modern appearance. In one of the bedrooms I visited a huge old smokestack went right up through the bedroom and took up about 10 or 15 percent of all the room space. What!' Getting to the apartment was fun, too, because it was a labyrinth of rooms in which one could get lost quite easily. That brings me to the issue of safety. Since it is so secure and looks intimidating, few would be thiefs could break into that old factory without the blueprints. So if safety is your thing, then fortify yourself in LL Sams. Personally I think it could have been turned into a Baylor laser tag/arcade fun center with the current layout. Too bad someone didn't do that, either.
Finally, the actual look of the inside of the apartments is pathetic. It may look grand with those large windows and big amount of space, but I don't want to see the energy bill of that place in the summer. There's not too much privacy either when someone can look for hundreds of meters around and see the upper windows. So overall, I'd have to say that though turning a factory into an apartment may have seemed like a creative idea, it didn't come off quite as well as expected. Even the biggest dump of an apartment at $300 or $400 a month is still not a factory. Look elsewhere, folks, but not at LL Sams.
