Not very impressed

I've lived here for over two years and have seen little improvement with the new management. It seems everytime there is a renovation problem it's the fault of whatever vendor the management decided to use.

First came the pool which was closed for much of the summer because the vendor supposedly showed up for work three months late.

Then came the repaving of the parking lot where the vendor paved the wrong areas on the wrong days.

Next came the three day delay in my broken airconditioner being replaced last August because the vendor did something wrong. (I can't remember the exact reason.) I had to threaten to speak to the owner of the management company before I could get the fifty dollar credit I was more than entitled to.

Then, the sun screens that were supposed to be installed in the skylights of the apartments were delayed by over two months then scaled back to where not all apartments that need one got one. Once again the vendor is blamed. Supposedly the first vendor refused to do the job and kept that fact secret from management for months. Then the second vendor they went with increased the price at the last minute. As a result, any apartment that has a tree, even if it doesn't even partly cover the skylight, (like mine) doesn't get one. I was told by management that I should paint my window with some special black paint. That way the next resident after me won't have a problem with the heavy heat and sun coming through the skylight. Nice.

Finally, I recently requested that a melted piece of tupperware be removed from the heating element on my dishwasher. I explained that the burned fumes made the air unbreathable in my apartment whenever the dishwasher was in dry mode. I was told that the plastic is hard to remove and that I should just let it burn off. After refusing to do this a maintenance request was submitted. The plastic was mostly removed and left on my kitched counter perhaps to remind me that I had inconvenienced the apartment staff with my request.

However management did retile my kitchen after I requested it several times. (The first couple of requests I made were somehow misplaced.) They did a good job with that.

I'm staying here because I am a student at MCC but if that were not the case I would have left months ago when my lease ended. I half expect that management will try to jack up my rent price upon renewal because of the supposed improvements made at the complex. Ugh.
