The best thing about Rivercrest is the location. I have overslept for exams, but never been late to one. The second best thing is the new management and staff. Rivercrest had a lot of issues when I first moved in but the new management team is exceptional. Since they arrived, the grounds have improved vastly, defferred maintenance has been finished, the maintenance guys are faster for new problems (24 hrs, too), the staff are nicer (and attractive), and there are more amenities (free weekday breakfast & Starbucks).

As a law student, I didn't get to many parties, but between the management and residents, there are a lot of parties. That can good be good or bad, depending on how much quiet you need, but there are quieter apartments (not near pool, avoid 1st floor). Parking is a problem for apartments on the University Parks side of the complex because non-residents will steal spots whenever there is an event at the Ferrel Center. However, even on that side, there is plenty of parking if you don't mind a little walk on b-ball game days. Many handicapped spots. Lots of pets, but designated pet walking areas help.

Also, look for the rental specials and if you need unusual rental periods or summer rent, get it in writing when you first negotiate your lease. The standard lease doesn't include those provisions and you'll pay more later. All of the staff are very helpful, though, when issues do come up. Bottom line - this place had a terrible management team (or 3) until 2006 and it is now (2007) priced lower than it should be because of the lingering rep (my rent is higher because of short lease term). The newer reviews are accurate and the new staff are great (and hot).
