My complaint with Saddlebrook Apartments took place on January 18, 2006. My lease agreement ends at the end of this month and I was told when I signed the lease that I must give a 60 day notice before I depart. During Thanksgiving weekend I went into the office and dropped off my notice to the manager. I thought everything was taken care of at this point until I found out on January 18, 2006 that no such document was in my folder. The manager, who no longer works at Saddlebrook Apartments because she was fired, never put my 60 day notice in my folder and never gave me a copy of my 60 day notice like she was supposed too. As a result, I am at fault because it was apparently my duty to get a copy of the 60 notice, however, this was never made clear when I signed my lease agreement. In addition, now I am responsible for an extra two months rent and Saddlebrook Apartments is raising my rent from $758 a month to $850.
I want to make clear that the money is not the issue at hand here. My problem with Saddlebrook is their lack of customer service. The current Saddlebrook staff has treated me with rudeness, disrespect, and taken revenge against me. They told my wife if we sign a 3 month lease we could have our normal rate of $758 back. Saddlebrook is not even willing to take the slightest responsibility or even apologize for the inconvenience this has caused my wife or myself. Unfortunately, due to the incompetence of a former and irresponsible manager my wife and I are suffering the consequences. Had the former manager done her job correctly, which was give us our copy of the 60 day notice this would have never happened. In addition, the current staff lacks complete customer service.
