Unbelievable nightmare! Utility expense was higher than monthly rent and they refused to investigate the A/C which was in desperate need of maintenance. 1 day late, even though we called to inform, in giving written notice that we would not renew lease and then charged us an entire additional month. There response was "It's not about being nice...it's a business. If we were nice to you (and let you off for only being a day late), we'd have to be nice to everybody" STAY FAR FAR FAR AWAY!!!!

Texas State Bar Association has a policy statement published on this VERY issue. Apartment MUST show actual damages they incurred to enforce 60 day notice. Small claims ct will award 3x amount plus 500 up to limit (5000) if they can't show actual damages. report them to htaa, bbb, and the newspaper. then get an atty. i bet they didn't give a reminder either did they. yes they have to comply with sec 37 taa lease as well.
