Still having nightmares about this place!!!!!

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2003
I moved into Saddlebrook West when it first opened. I was the first tenant in my apartment. I thought it was a wonderful place. I was blinded by the big pool, jacuzzi, the nice new apartment. HA! That year that I spent there ended up being the most horrible living situation that I have ever had to endure! I hear that the place is under new management and is horrible, well the original management was too. This was back in 2002-2003. So basically its been a bad place from the day it opened. My roommate and I always paid our bills on time, we weren't loud or crazy college students or anything like that. However, they would get on our backs about rent 2 days before it was even due. It was like they didn't trust us for anything in the world. Now, even though that was rude, we were young, and we could overlook that. They screwed us over, however, for every dime that they could upon move out. We had a small spot on the carpet, it was teeny tiny, like the size of my thumbnail. Instead of just loosing our deposit, which would have been ok... thats what its there for.. NO.. not only did we lose our deposit, BUT they also charged us $1000 to completely replace all the carpet in the apartment. I can't even think of why it would cost them that much to replace that carpet.. We (they did it to 3 of my neighbors as well) fought and fought them, but they wouldn't back down, and eventually we just got tired of fighting and paid it.
We thought that because it was a little higher priced, that we would be getting a better place to live, but to tell you the truth, I was more unsafe at SaddleBrook West than I was when I live in Bellmead, when I lived by lake Waco, and when I lived downtown. Those are all known to be unsafe areas, and hewitt is supposedly better. Which it is, as long as you don't live at Saddlebrook! We had several breakins, the gates never worked, a woman was beat to death and left outside to die while we were there. Lets see... they let drug dealers in, my neighbors truck was blown up in the parking lot. Oh yeah, the people that lived across from me were international thieves. (I came home one day to find the FBI, State Troopers, and the Texas Rangers at their apartment.) Oh yeah and that woman that was left to die, was left right by the playground. They really should have turned on the gates once in awhile. I know these things aren't entirely Saddlebrook's fault, but they really need to have those gates working! Also they need to be more selective about who they let live there.
If you are looking for a nice place to live, close to the same price range of Saddlebrook, may I suggest one of the houses downtown that have been turned into aparments. Ok, so they don't have a gym, and most don't have a pool, but you get historical elegance, space, better leasing agents, smaller bills, the list goes on and on.... I don't even live in Waco anymore, but I was there for a long time, know they area really well, and you are just better off staying away from Saddlebrook! I don't want anyone to have to go through what we went through.
