Not the Home for your Heart

I came to Village Green in October, basically because I had no where else to go. I had two weeks to find an apartment and a job. Village Green at the time was the most "affordable" and was the one place my parents (and myroommate's parents) would accept. At first we were both like, "Cool! An apartment! No more curfew!" That wore off quickly. From the get go we reported several issues. The garbage disposal was disgusting, it smelled terrible and backed up. It still stinks and rarely works, but they consider it "fixed" because it doesnt back up or leak. We have to almost constantly clean because of dead mouse stench in the walls, and we still have an issue with bugs. Now, personally I can be a bit anal about cleaning so there's not a day that the counters don't get wiped down, or the sink rinsed out. Our fridge leaks. There's a huge puddle in the bottom of the fridge, and no bottom shelf. So our "crisper" drawers float, opened to the air and we cant keep fresh veggies to save our lives. The hot water works for approxamately two minutes in the mornings. After that, it's ice city. The apartments are not quiet either. Whether it's some suped up system in a raggedy car, or someone next door flushing, you hear everything. People across the way, you can hear their conversations in my dining room. THere's no overhead lighting, and the layout of the apartments doesn't allow for much sunlight. When you call about mice, in your living room, yourkitchen, your cereal box, it's not an emergency. They shrug and say sorry. It took two weeks before they had someone come out and spread poison. Now we smell dead rats. We've reported needing our fridge fixed six times, from like, day four and it still hasnt been looked at. We reported that none of our outside lights work, on the inventory we took the day we moved in. Nothing has been done. The ceiling is peeling and stained. There's a giant hole in the wall for the cable access. There were women's underwear, plastic bags, and baby bibs inside this hole when the cable guy came. The wiring is terrible. It's old so the phone lines rarely work and the cable is fuzzy.
I'm LUCKILY stuck in 6month lease, it's up in april. We went and found a better apartment, that would add, at most five minutes to any of our trips to work or school.
All in all, if you're trying to work and go to school, Village green is NOT the deal you're looking for.
