Nightmare is an Understatment

Years at this apartment: 2000 - 2001
I lived in Village Green for almost a year. If it was so bad, why didn't I move' Believe me, it was my biggest wish!
I first lived on the northern side of the complex in a 2/1. When I finally received a call, two weeks after the apartment was suppose to be ready, that the apt was ready for me to move in, friends and I got a truckload & arrived at an apt that hadn't even been vacuumed more less ready for move-in. I told the office and they supposingly had it ready the next day. We went back the next day and it was obvious that the only thing that was done was the carpet actually being vacuumed. The kitchen hadn't been cleaned at all! I was promised by the manager that if she had to go do it herself it would get done - never did. I ended up cleaning the apartment myself and moving in.
During the hole move in experience, there was a water spot noticed in the bathroom. When maintenance was told, they sprayed Kiltz (sp/') on it and said it'd be fine. About two months later the entire bathroom ceiling fell in. I was out of town at the time and upon my arrival home (around 2 in the morning) found my bathroom ceiling on my bathroom floor. Needless to say, I was not a happy person.
Since I had signed a 12 month lease, I asked if I could change apartments (this wasn't offered to me.) I gave this complex another chance by moving to a 2/2 next to one of the two pools b/c I did have a friend that lived there that didn't have any problems with his place and he'd been there for 2 years.
So, a friend of mine moved to Waco from Austin and we were to share the 2/2. Again, the place was not cleaned before we moved in - just the carpet - which wasn't in the best condition either. I thought that nothing could be worse than where I had come from! I was wrong. There was a leak in the second bedroom's closet from a former manager who had put a washer and dryer in the closet. It had been patched over, but water continued to leak and ruin the floor and molding/base boards in the closet. Never got fixed. The built in soap dish in the second bathroom fell off after being used once while taking a shower and didn't get fixed within 6 months. I have witnesses that I NEVER used the master bathroom's shower b/c it was so disgusting.
The kitchen wasn't cleaned upon move in, the disposal and refridgerator went out and were eventually replaced... we're talking months. Then, after the disposal had been "fixed" it continued to drip/leak underneath the sink. One night around 10 P.M., we had an entire kitchen floor flooded with nasty water coming out of the disposal. My roommate and I called maintenance and were told it wasn't an emergency and would have to wait! About a month later, it basically started raining in the dinning room! The upstairs water heater had fallen apart (surprise, surprise) and water leaked through our ceiling fan in the dinning room, all over my dinning room table and saturating the carpet. When maintenance was called, they said to just let it dry and it would be fine. When we finally moved out - I did NOT get my deposit back b/c of "damage to the dinning room carpet"!!! When I spoke to someone in the office when the dinning room incident happened, I was told they would clean the carpets and not to worry about it. RIGHT!
It got so bad at Village Green that my roommate's father (a former Texas County Judge and an attorney) requested copies of all messages left by my roommate and myself and copies of all the workorders placed while we were there. It took two trips to the office to get ALL the copies of the work orders as they left out about 5-7 when first asked.
Needless to say, I would not want my dog living in these apartments, much less anyone working for a living and wanting a decent place to go home to or study for class at!!
And I won't even get started on my neighbors who would party all night, on the week days... I would call security, but they wouldn't come... eventually I got home from work one day and there were 3 Waco PD searching the apt. They confiscated a bunch of stuff, but the little punks were back home within 48 hours! And the "domestic disturbance"neighbor with the huge Rotweiler (sp/') was really comforting too!
