I am currently living here at VOA. I am waiting until my lease ends, so I can live somewhere better. Here are the Pros and Cons:
Pros: 1. It is very safe. Cops are constantly driving around.
2. There are hardly any insects. I have not seen a single cockroach the entire 17 months I have lived here.
3. Maintenance requests are usually handled very fast.
4. Phone, internet, and maid service are all free for all VOA residents.
Cons:
1. The guy:girl ratio is 9:1. And the girls that do live here aren't even attractive.
2. Rent is slightly high. If you were to look for another 4 bedroom apt. off somwhere else in Waco, the rent would be lower.
3. Parking during spring and fall semesters is not good. It is almost impossible to get a good spot.
4. You can't pick your roommates. Unfortunatley I am stuck living with 2 of the crappiest roommates ever. They are the reason I want to move out.
5. Inspections. Over 10 times I have been awakened by a VOA maintence person knocking on my door, and then just walking in when no one answers it. I've only lived one other place since I've been on my own, but I'm pretty sure, at other apartments, people don't just walk into your apartment when you didn't let them in. That is extremely annoying.
