If you are looking into staying at Village Oaks please read up on this horrible apartment complex. Be sure this is the place that you or your son or daughter want to stay.
I was duped into signing a 3 semester lease because it would be discounted on the 3rd semester. I cannot believe they think that taking $80 off an almost $400 bill will really make a difference. If you back out of your lease you will be fined a few hundred dollars and be thrown out of TSTC.
If I could go back to the day I signed my lease I would. My parents didn't know any better, and neither did I.
I lived in a 4 bedroom apartment with 3 other girls. I shared a bathroom with someone I didn't know and later on would discover something that was shocking.
The size of the aparment and the fact that I shared it with 3 other girls for $370 a month is absolutely outrageous. I truly believe that this apartment complex should be investigated for extortion.
Also, after a few months I found out my roommate that I shared a bathroom with was a carrier for Hepatitis B from one of my other roommates. She was not clean and was very hard to deal with. I brought this to the attention of the manager that no longer works there and she made a contract for everyone to sign basically stating that we would respect each other etc etc. After signing this no one abided by it and after living 5 months with the A/C turned on during the winter I finally went to the club house. I spoke with Kari and she had me and another roommate sign a statement and she said that the roommate I shared a bathroom with would be contacted. After a week of nothing happening I finally went down and spoke with the manager on duty that I had previously spoken with and had a contract made and she quickly put a move out notice on my roommates door. The unfortunate part of all this is that Kari (who had done nothing about my roommate) is in her position now and the other manager has moved to work at other apartments in Waco.
The washers and dryers are constantly used up, they need more ventilation and more equipment to deal with the 900 students that live there.
What they won't tell you is that there was a shooting during the spring semester break in the 1400 building. Also, they sent a letter to the students letting them know of a black man walking around the apartments robbing people with a knife.
Red River is the other apartment complex on campus that a new student can stay at since they will be required to stay on campus a couple semesters. Lavaca Hall are the on campus dorms across from the student services center and art building.
