Very poor place to live

Who ever writes these positive reviews is clearly doing so as part of their job description or is just clueless. This place was never really great, but never really bad. It always was just a simple convenient place to live. The apartments are old and out dated. Inside our unit, upon moving in, the carpets reeked of cat urine, and numerous attempts to plea with the office to clean the floors went unnoticed.

The appliances are old, and once broken, replaced with other old appliances except for the new stove they provided me with, which was cheap garbage. The AC unit for the apartment is so old it is actually a rust bucket with a fan attached to it. The unit gets so hot during the day with no real possible way of cooling the unit unless you want a light bill that rivals your monthly rent for the unit.

The landscaping at Westchester is a complete joke. This place is where vegetation and grass go to die. If you dont believe me, just get out of the car and walk around the units. However, be careful, because you may get your car broken into if you decide to leave it unattended.

The maintenance staff, sadly, is over worked and under qualified. Their scotch tape methods of fixing problems within the units will leave you calling the inferior management with weeks, only to wait another week to have work done. I am fairly certain the one man that works maintenance has a border line Forrest Gump IQ, without the nice warm nature expected from a handicapped individual.

The pool is an added bonus, if you really enjoy fighting loud children swimming unsupervised for a calm spot in the water that doesnt suddenly turn warm. However, you can rest assured that someone in the office will out and scream at every occupant in the pool, and speak down to you as if you are but a child. Yeah lady, I get it. You have a position of power, my masters degree from Rice pales in comparison with the authority that you wield.

The office staff is not friendly, and the old saying of pay early and make friends does not apply here. In fact, I have found that if you do constantly pay early, they will just find a way to milk more money out of you. If you have multiple cars or other toys, expect a sin tax from Ceaser.

Most of the people that are tenants at this half way house, err, I mean Westchester, are holding the key to prison in their back pocket. The screen process is a complete joke, and mirror the landscaping; lacking.

Unsavory guest to the residents can be found rummaging through your vehicle then running away into the distance when confronted. If you are really keen on your car or any belongings found there within, I suggest parking it in the neighborhood across the street. My car was broken into multiple times, and apparently there is a security guard that patrols the units at night, he may have very well been taking bong hits with Forrest Gump the grumpy maintenance man.

The roads found within the confines are deteriorating, and tiny rocks are always thrown up at cars parked leaving nice little chip marks in the paint. Not to mention, if you do have children, you may want to tell them to stay away from these roads because most of the drivers believe these to be their own Taladega Race Track. My buddy who is a cop in town and I sat out clocking cars driving through the area, and one hit 50 mph in half a block span. He must really be glad to get of work... At 11 pm.

The laundry facilities are a complete nightmare. Think of 10 family units, all sharing 1 washer and 1 dryer. You might as well forget about doing laundry here unless your goal is to wait around all day and hope to God someone doesn't get upset by you doing 4 loads and pours some bleach into your colors rinse cycle. Very inadequate washing facility per unit.

All in all, dont be fooled by these happy reviews stating this place is great living, as clearly they are written by someone in the office. This place is barely above livable, and my college living accommodations were by far superior to these living arrangements. Westchester Square Apartments are given a D- on my grading scale.

WHO PISTED IN YOUR CHEERIOS....My husband & I have lived here for over 3 yrs now. Yea we have had our share of thing that needed fixing. But we turned in a work order & they get done. This is the 3rd manager that we have had & I can tell you one thing, there has been a lot of changes for the better since she has been here. There are more rules now & things are getting much better now. As for the maintenance man that you are calling Forrest Gump. He has been here for many years & he is much smarter than you are giving him credit for, he is a Certified Electrician, so not just anyone can do his type of work. His only handicap is that he is def in 1 ear. He is a kind & very nice person if you would just get to know him. You should never judge a book by its cover. As for the apartments, I think they look darn good for there years...nice & roomy between building....They aren't all boxed in & on top of each other...We are more like a small community here. As for the pool..I can see it from my patio door, all kids are being supervised, & hey they are kids, they play & sometimes do get a little loud so deal with it, it's that way even if you go to the Waco water park.... As for the landscaping here, with the dead grass, HELLO PEOPLE THIS IS TEXAS WERE IT IS HOT AS H-E-L-L. There is dead grass all over town because of this heat, go drive around & take a look......... What gives you the right to call anyone Unsavory,or be holding the key to prison. or to refer to the apartments as a halfway house...See there you go again, You are judging people without knowing them. Is that the way that you would want people to judge you. My car has never been broken into...I have things on my patio & no one has ever mess with anything on it. As for your buddy the cop, if he clocked someone doing that fast, why didn't go give them a ticket...There are some people that do drive a little fast around here, but not everyone. I have never had any one mess with my laundry....I look at it this way....IF YOU HAVE MORE THAN 4 LOADS OF LAUNDRY AT 1 TIME, TAKE IT THE LAUNDROMAT SO YOU CAN DO IT ALL AT ONCE, that's what I would do..get over it....... I just want to say that I DON'T WORK AT WESTCHESTER. We looked at lots of different apartment around town, I picked here because it was still close to shopping centers but not to close. I also love the layout of the buildings & grounds.. I would & have recommended these apartments. I expect to be here for many years to come. I give Westchester Square Apartments a B ..... because only newly built apartments should get A's

I've lived here for six months and am getting kicked out at the end of my lease because the management changed up. The previous management never wrote in my contract that I had caged pets and my pets and I have to suffer through finding yet another place to live because of this. The new maintenance guys must be wusses if they can't deal with a few pet rats. The older gentleman had even come in to install a ceiling fan in the same room the rats were in and never said a word. Weenies. From the beginning I have had problems with multitudes of bugs. Ants even when the apartment was clean, termites in multiple rooms, roaches. BLEH! I finally just did it myself since they just wouldn't go away. There are people constantly in the breezeways yelling, being drunk, children running back and forth yelling and pounding on walls and doors, people driving way too fast in the parking lot. The management likes to call me multiple times in the week and during the day when I am at work and demand I call them back. Uh, yes.. I am a normal person, I do work during the day. How hard is it to wait until I get off at 5 for me to respond? There's no need to leave rude voicemail messages on my phone. I also agree the laundry facilities are rediculous, although I've never used them. One set of machines for 10, yes 10, apartments is just unreal. I give the new management a C-. The two ladies who managed the complex a few months ago were very polite, courteous, they were "Do-Ers" and things really got done. I also want to know what is wrong with caged pets? They are clean, don't bark or make noise, don't mess up the carpet or anything else, don't smell, don't poop all over the apartment grounds. Small dogs bite, bark, pee/poop all over the apartment, poop on the grounds, etc. I gladly would have paid an extra deposit to have been able to keep my caged pets, but just because they're rats, people have to be weenies. Not that they're going to do anything about the people who have "Pit Bulls" in the complex, but my tiny rats have to go...

this post is sadly true...if people were all paying the same rent, the place could look a little better...you got people paying way below the average $485-$490. This is very unfair to others who were forced to pay at least $485 per month. Of Course the main issue is top mgmt not keeping the exterior up...it was a nice looking establishment...someone let things go. I have no complaint except for exterior is rotting away for NO GOOD REASON, people paying $100-200 per month in rent. If ya cant afford it, it's not your league of stay. Also the A/C could use an update, along with the streets and update the garage - maybe extent it and make sure the structure is safe/sound...along with the wood walking planks upstairs. It's really Waco ok, now in city settings: Dallas or Austin, L.A.,etc - it'd be considered slight sub living. I must agree, the screening process seems questionable but who am I to judge...I just hope it's legit in the eyes of the court and ethical mgmt. If someone sues, you better have your ducks correctly aligned. Best advice, be PROFESSIONAL, DO THE RIGHT THING & BE ETHICAL. I think the new mgmt is a big improvement...I must say. The maint guy works his butt off guys...be nice.

We, at the Westchester Square Apartments, make every effort to provide all of our residents with a pleasant and satisfying place to live. We offer spacious apartments situated on over 12 acres at an excellent price; a definite plus in our difficult economic times. We care about each of our residents. Because we care, we firmly enforce the Texas Apartment Association Lease. This helps us provide everyone within this community a good living environment. A place they can be happy to call home. Those who are not happy with the Westchester Square Apartments are generally those who are not following their lease and want separate rules for themselves. This is not fair to all our wonderful residents who follow the rules. The posts on July 15th and July 20th are simply an attempt to discredit the Westchester Square Apartments and its staff with untrue statements. We welcome tenants to come by the office to discuss any problems or concerns they may be having. We will do our very best to help because we do care and want to create a positive living experience for every individual who calls the Westchester Square Apartments "home". If you are not yet a resident of the Westchester Square Apartments, we warmly invite you to stop by and check out all the amenities we have to offer.

My positive news...better than most Waco apts minus Hewitt and minus Waco's The Residence which is a joke almost for the price location. My slight negative news, the parking lot...need more space, more covered parking, covered parking needs to have wall up blocking next door apt random druggy looking kids from crossing over...also the trees should NOT cover the city lights, ask City of Waco Coding if you have any questions on it. It really defeats the purpose of city lights. Overall, an ok place to stay! you get what you pay for, I chose to stay here, didn't have to... Nothing against anyone personally, seriously...we all could improve but paying monthly rent makes you cautious of the return.

I totally disagree with the former summary of Weschester square apartments. I love living here! My apartmetn was very clean when I moved in. There was a leak in the shower head, and they fixed it before I moved in. I have had no problems with my car being broken in and it is a new model. I have never been frightened or afraid to go out to my car at 2 am if I needed to. I did have a patio door issue and maintainance was wonderful and competent. Thanks for the rescue! Not ever body can be a model, but thank God the Staff at these apartments are very nice and accomidating. I have never had a problem with anybody in these apartments. I guess you get treated the way you treat others. Treat others with respect and you will be treated with respect. As far as loud kids go, I have been to the pool several times....never have there been anything but normal kids activity and playing and that's what kids do have fun. My children are grown, but I still enjoy watching the kids grow up. They have to grow up soon enough, so why not let them be kids? Don't be bitter. Enjoy your surroundings. We even received a new roof on our building this last month. So to sum it up, I enjoy my apartment, my neighbors and the quite nights. There have never been any issues for security and the staff especially Brenda is wonderful!
