Complaint #1 - MOLD
After 2 weeks of constant rain there is now an area of roughly 4 ft x 4 ft in my apt that is soaking wet. Apparently water is seeping through the walls causing mold to grow along the baseboards and in the carpet of my apt.

Not having furniture in this corner of my apt .. I rarely walk through there ...
So after what was already a week of smelling this putrid stench, I FINALLY discovered the 'wet area' while again opening a window for ventilation, this time sans shoes/sandals!!

Before this, I'd already done numerous other things to try and correct what I had thought to be the problem: take out the trash and clean the garbage can, pour bleach down the sink for the disposal, Febreeze everything in case it somehow related to my gym shoes ( that was a stretch, but when I first noticed the smell it was faint .. ) Point is.. I'd been smelling it a week before I discovered what it was !

Figuring out what the actual issue was late Sunday night, I reported it Monday morning, June 15, 2009 and was told to wait 4 days until Friday when the maintenance crew could get to it. I went back into the office Tuesday morning the 16th, reporting that the smell had gotten so bad that previous night it was now giving me headaches - and that was with all the windows open !! At this point I also made two new requests: 1-that someone look into it that day so any necessary supplies could be ordered, and 2-that they fix it sooner than Friday.

The morning of Wednesday, June 17th, I moved all my furniture into my bedroom as the smell had continued to get worse .. that was LAST Wednesday .. today is now Tuesday June 23, 2009 ... !!

I've been spending 95% of my time in my bedroom with the door closed since the previous Monday when I couldn't deal with the smell anymore. No one from Sterling Pointe has been over to speak with me about the thrice delayed work .. or to check in to see if things are better or have even sent in carpet cleaners .. absolutely NOTHING from Sterling Pointe !!!

It s noon and work has yet to commence. I ve been told it ll take a day to dig out around the foundation, add a new liner, and fill it all back in. As well, the carpet still has to be cleaned which means there will be a day in there for it to dry.

Not exactly the kind of response I was hoping for ..

So while I don't normally write complaints about places, I've been pushed WAY over the limit with this one !!!!

And, in lieu of this, each day this mold/mildew issue drags on, I'm going to write about something else I dislike about this apt complex!! Yes - There s more !

When it comes to dealing with mold problems. The best way to get results is to turn them into the health dept.. That usually gets them moving alot faster.

I am sorry your having this problem I also lived there for a year and had the same problem. it started when I moved in and kept going uintil I moved out NOT one person came to the apartment to check things out ever. And I was pregnant. So see they didn't fix it with me I doubt they will fix it with you I say cut your losses and get running out of there.
