Not worth the price!

These apartments aren't terrible. The one-bedroom is livable, but you can get way more space for your money a few miles north in South Ogden. These apartments are extremely cramped and small for the price that you pay. I didn't think I would mind the lack of square-footage, but once I moved in I realized that it is just too small, even for one person. There is no room to have anyone over.
There are also many other small problems with the place. My heaters don't work, so I had to buy a space heater to keep warm. That's one upside to the small size: a space heater is adequate for heat. Also, the outlets are loose and my plugs don't stay in the wall! The caulking in the bathroom is ragged and peeling. It looks dirty all the time. The linoleum is actually peeling in one spot. My bathroom counter was stained when I moved in, so I have to cover it with contact paper. They didn't offer me any compensation for the ugly stain. The toilet gets clogged often, so the plumbing isn't the best. The fuses blow and the power goes out every time I try to blow-dry my hair. Fortunately, the fuse-box is right outside the bathroom door. The appliances are ancient. The hood light doesn't work. The stove burners are loose and unpredictable. It's not easy to cook anything. Sometimes I have to take my pan off the stove and use tongs to re-adjust the burner so that the pan can actually sit on it straight. The freezer has to be defrosted every couple of months or it grows inch-or-more thick ice on every surface. The disposal is also unreliable. I have had to have my fiance fix it more than once. There is only one drawer in the kitchen, and it keeps falling apart. I mean, literally falling apart. The back and bottom boards just come apart from the rest of the drawer. My fiance has put it back together twice now. I have also had problems with the dishwasher. You need to be handy and you need to own tools if you live here, unless you are comfortable with having maintenance people in your home at least once a month. The maintenance guys have always been prompt and helpful though, to their credit.
One other issue is the noise. I can often hear my neighbors on all sides. The walls are thin. Also, Sun Valley is across the street from Hill Air Force Base, so you get to listen to F-16s doing fly-bys at all hours of the night and day. Those afterburners are LOUD! I can sleep through anything, so I don't really mind all the noise that much, but if noise will bother you, you should definitely find somewhere else!!
On the positive side, the closet is very large, which is great. The closet has a pretty good built-in shelving unit in it, too. The carpet was new and clean when I moved in, although I don't care for the light, easy-to-stain color. The parking situation is good. I rarely have trouble finding a close parking spot. The parking lot only gets really full late at night.
The girls in the office are not very polite or easy to work with. They say that cable is included, but it's not. You actually have to pay extra, but it's not very much. Utility prices are reasonable. I pay about $40-$70 for electricity, which includes the price of AC and heat since those are electric. Water and garbage used to be paid, but if I re-sign they will make me start paying for those. My apartment is so far away from the pool and rec. center that I never use them. If you do move here, insist on a unit near the clubhouse. It is a very large complex. Carting my laundry almost two blocks away to the clubhouse, where I have to pay $2 per load, isn't very pleasant. The management is offering upgrades, but you have to pay an additional $150 a month for nicer cabinets, counters, etc. And you can't upgrade the square-footage, which is what this place really needs!
