Not too shabby...

This is the first apartment my husband and I have lived in together. I lived in apartments growing up from time to time, so I know what they're like. You have the typical problems with apartments: the walls are pretty thin, we don't like ALL of the neighbors, etc. etc. The biggest problems we have with these apartments are:

1) Hot water doesn't last. My husband takes his showers in the morning, and I have to take mine in the evening because there's not enough hot water to last for two showers close together. Plus, if you do the dishes, that also takes hot water.
2) The water in the sinks come out cloudy. There's nothing wrong with the water; it doesn't taste funny or anything. After a few minutes, the water turns clear like it should be. We think it's just run off from inside the pipes or something.
3) No dishwasher, no disposal. And that gets tiring really fast.
4) They say the heating and the air/conditioning isn't central throughout the building, but there are vents that are connected to the outside. We occasionally get the smell of cigarette smoke coming into our bathroom. My husband and I are both allergic to the smell, so it's very troubling. We just leave the bathroom light/fan on and close the door. It's not too bad that way.
5) Parking is not guaranteed, nor covered. It hasn't snowed here yet, so I don't know how well they are with snow removal.
6) Management is NOT on site. They're a larger corporation (Coldwell Banker) and deal with apartments, homes, condos, etc. They tend to be stuck up sometimes. Not always, but sometimes. Also, when you move in, you fill out a list of things that are wrong with the apartment. I don't think anything on the list has been taken care of. And it was a struggle to get my kitchen light replaced before the weekend came even though I gave the appropriate 24 hours notice. The management is located at 135 South Main Street Suite 100 in Logan.
7) Laundry. Oh my God, this is terribly. There's a laundromat on site, but it sucks. The washers and dryers are tiny. The washers don't get all the soap off the clothes, and the dryers don't dry. I get by because my friend down the street lets me use her washer and dryer for free. Plus, they're expensive. $1 for washers and $0.75 for dryers I think. I'm not terribly sure because I didn't look at them again after the first time I tried to use them.

Things we DO like about the apartment are:
1) Though small, this apartment works for us. It's a studio, so the kitchen and dining room are the same and the living room and bedroom are the same. There's a nice sized closet behind one door and a good bathroom behind the other.
2) The price. My God, if I didn't have to move I wouldn't. It's $440 a month, and that includes utilities. My husband is a computer major at USU, so a lot of electricity is used daily. You can't find $440 for rent, utilities, trash pick-up, parking, fees, etc.
3) The location. Are you going to USU' Live here! You walk up the stairs and WHAM! There's the Institute building, the TSC, and the HYPR. My husband LOVES that since most of his classes are at Old Main.
4) When there's someone without a parking pass (no extra fee, by the way), you call the booting services. The booting is pretty fast for their responses, and there are no tickets given. They immediately boot. However, if you have a friend coming over, the option to place a piece of paper with specific information in the window is an option. They are allowed over for two hours per day. We like this parking deal.
5) When you first enter the property, there's a rather deep dip that keeps cars from traveling too fast in and out of the property. As long as you go real slow, you and your car will be fine. And there's a speed bump shortly after the dip as you come into the property. Don't worry about it though, because it's too little to really slow down for.

That's my personal opinion. We're moving in December because we have to move to SLC, but this is a pretty okay apartment complex. And for $440, there's not much better!
