The management at Brighton Place is your friend, right up until you sign the lease. After that, if you can get them to do anything beyond sending a maintenance guy your direction, you're one of the lucky few. We probably should have been aware the new neighbors above us would be trouble when they decided that moving in at 1am was a good idea. Their better idea was to play music so loud from their apartment, they could hear it from the parking lot while they moved in. Since then, they have thrown drunken beerfests every weekend. Calls to management result in nothing. Of course not, they don't work nights, and on Monday morning they can just delete your messages. Calls during their business hours invariably result in the obligitory "We'll call them right away," which is a bit odd given the fact that the office doesn't keep track of the tenant's phone numbers. Maybe they use magic. Regardless, after 8 months of complaining every week, the tenants above us continue their noise unabated. They even act surprised when you kick their door (knocking and doorbell ringing are easily ignored) and tell them to turn down their music and quit the drunken karaoke they have going at 1am. Aside from the loud neighbors, we hope you don't bring kids to the complex. While there are about 400 unattended kids running around all day to play with, there are also the thousands of cigarrete butts on the lawns, the pool with never less than 30 kids playing in it from dawn to dusk (And, given the complex's stance on maintenance, I can only *imagine* the urine-to-chlorine ratio there), and the occasional fight in the darkly-lit parking lots. There is zero security. Once a month or so a cop will drive through the parking lots at around noon. That's it. On the other hand, if you're into buying weed, there are pleanty of tenants you can get a bag from. Their maintenance crews are at least acceptable. Minor repairs are corrected fairly quickly. Just beware of the management telling your building that they need to remove everything from all your cupboards and move all furniture away from the walls so they can spray for roaches. It doesn't actually happen, and you'll wonder why the heck you just moved all your stuff for. Although, in fairness, it did make it easier to clean the dead roaches out of the back corners. We are already moving forward with terminating our lease early, just to get out of here. $1500 just to escape this pit - and perhaps get some sleep and an actual feeling of security - is well worth it in our opinion.
