Subsidized Housing = Ghetto

Years at this apartment: 2009 - 2009
From our first step through the door our apartment reeked like a seedy inner city motel--pungent and startling. This was despite their reassurances that the place wouldn't smell. Day one, the dishwasher flooded. Day two, the freezer stopped shutting. Day three, the drain in the bathroom stopped draining. Day four, the disposal stopped working. Day five, our apartment was broken into and my wife's laptop and ipod stolen. After five calls to maintenance and a week and a half, they graciously came and fixed everything. But by week 2 the cigarette smoke smell became too much and we demanded out of our contract, claiming we signed it under false pretenses. After much deliberation, they released us from their terrible grasp.
Only move here if you enjoy being surrounded by the dregs of society. Most everyone smokes like a chimney, has a dog that defecates on the lawn everywhere, and has relinquished control of their kids, who maraud around the premises like demons. Every day I lived there was a day I lost self respect because of the people who surrounded me.
