My wife moved here to see if we wanted to buy a house in the neighborhood, and because the apartements were new and supposedly non-smoking. We had the problem of having to scrub down the apartment before it was really livable. They charge about $300 now for the security deposit, which is only partially refundable. What is the point of charging a NON-REFUNDABLE deposit if you don't clean the apartments when people move out'''

In addition to not being super clean, we thought the rooms were smaller than what they showed us on the apartment layout. THe Master bedroom on the layout said it was 17 x 12. We measured it to be 13 x 10. Basically, all the rooms were smaller than they were advertised to be.They told us the apartment was almost 1000 sq ft, but it most certainly is not.

The construction is pretty poor with sliding doors being misaligned and door frames being different heights, but the worst thing we didn't find out until the weather got really cold. You see, smokers are supposed to leave the property to smoke (very few actually do), but once it got cold, some neighbors started smoking inside. We would come home, and our apartment reeked of cigarette smoke. I have asthma and we have a 4 month old baby, so needless to say, this is quite a concern for us. After a while, the maintenance staff came and looked, and it turns out that there was a gaping hole in the laundry closet that was never sealed. They sealed it off and now it is much better. When my wife first spoke to the lady in the office (who smells of smoke all the time...I wonder if she leave the property to smoke'), she said that our neighbors that do smoke probably have smelly clothes and they are just doing their laundry and and that must be what we are smelling. My wife told her that she really doubts that our neighbors do their laundry five times a day (you could smell almost instantly when they lit up).

So, more about smoking. This last summer, our neighbors on the first floor would smoke on their patio. Unfortunately, this made our thrid floor balcony unusable, unless we didn't mind smelling like smoke all day. The other thing this kept us from doing was having our windows open, as the smoke would get sucked into our apartment. We talked to the Office staff, and the posted a notice on the door, but nothing would change. After several times of us seeing them smoking on the patio, my wife was agin speaking to the same person in the office and she had the nerve to tell my wife the following: "I went over and talked to them, and they say that they don't smoke on the patio, and I can usually tell when someone is lying and I don't think they were lying." WE HAD FREAKING SEEN THEM DO IT!!! She basically was calling my wife a liar when she said that the other people wer not.

In my experience, management makes all the difference, and this is close to the worst I have dealt with. We are planning to build a house soon, so I will be very happy to say good-bye to apartment living.

You live in an apartment complex. Not everyone lives a mormon life. If you don't like it move.

well if it says "no smoking" in the Foxboro Terrace Apt. rules and ppl can't follow them....then the issue isn't about mormons, its about ppl deliberately and intentionally breaking that rule not considering that it may indeed majorly affect someone with health conditions for example...asthma. Not to mention, the issue was poorly handled by inexperienced management. cmon, i think the previous user response needs to re-take english 101.

It's too bad this is your experience. I have lived here since the market side apartments have opened. NONE of the office staff has ever smelled of smoke. (I have lived here two years) If you moved in before the no smoking policy began, or shortly thereafter, yes, there were problems with smokers on property. However, since the change in policy to nonsmoking I have seen the management take action whenever a complaint of smoking has been given--not only from me, but from others also. There are those who smoke, which is against their signed lease agreement--mormon or not- most people are following the rules. I also have issus with smoke, yet have always seen my complaints about smoking neighbors followed up on. I have lived in many apartments over the years, in my opinion the smoking complaints are not worth criticizing the entire complex and staff for. If the blame needs to lie anywhere it is with the management company who makes the policies and leaves their office staff to take the brunt of the consequences.

Fist the guy never said anythin about being mormon, it was a health issue from what I can tell. As far as management following up, when I lived there it depended on who you are? One family got and eviction notice right away while another never got more than a letter on the door. This is an issue of people following the rules, but managemet needs to enforce them consistently. The issues I saw had nothing to do with smoking but it was the same issue for both families.
