Pros vs Cons

This is a nice, small community. The management is fair. They have monthly newsletters which are very nice. If you like to keep to yourself, don t care about noise and dealing with small maintenance issues this may be a community you d like to live in. We agree with the painter s comment. They made a mess and blocked our garage in the morning when we are hurrying out to get to work. Now they have recently added speed bumps; good for the kids forcing vehicles to slow down BUT they are way too high. Driving over them has hurt my car even when slowly driving over them. We never expected the walls, ceilings and floors to be so thin and not sound proof at all, although, they are old apartments. We can hear every step the upstairs tenants take. We also hear our next door neighbors arguing or singing almost everyday! During the move-in process we noted several issues with our unit and less than a quarter of them got fixed -after we nagged them to fix them one-by-one. Still to this day the metal mini-blinds are in bad shape; dishwasher drawer falls out, one or two (prior existence to our move-in) small holes in walls from doorknobs. The carpet had not been cleaned prior to our move in and we had to fight them to get it cleaned since we were aware of the $200.00 non-refundable fee used to clean carpets after our move-out. I keep my home clean and do deep cleaning especially for my move-outs. I AM GETTING MY SECURITY DEPOSIT BACK. Unless they want to get sued; that is. Check the market rate before you lock into a contract. The apartments are nice; they even offer units with attached one-car garages. This may be the number one community for -------; if you don t mind them and being stared at by them (because they feel they own the community pool, volleyball court and smoking corner) then sign a contract. We will miss the unit (it is a very comfortable home) but we are definitely not renewing our contract. OR go across the street and pay a few bucks less for a brand new apartment and awesome community amenities! Wish we d done that!
