Living at Country Springs has been one of the worst mistakes I have ever made. I was 18 and got kicked out with the rest of my college money to move out. I decided to live in Country Springs because they're the only apartment complex that pretty much just took my money and let me move in. (gee, I wonder why) Since I was 18 I didn't know what "moderately priced" was, but I soon found out Country Springs was not. I have a high belief and knowledge that they do illegal things as far as housing goes. I woke up one morning to someone walking in my locked house. I thought it was my live in boyfriend at the time, so I walked out in my underwear to say hi. Not only was it not any one I knew, but it was the one repair man that works there saying he was sent up to "fix the toilet paper tube" whatever the crap that meant. I told him it was not broken and I hadn't sent in the paper yet with the repairs (it was the first week I had lived there.) He continued to stare at me in my underwear like all of this was completely normal. Not only did they not give me 24 hour notice, but they were trying to sneak in at a time when they thought no one was home. Nothing needed to be fixed, and my car had been gone from my parking spot. There was no emergency and he didn't even bother to knock. I don't know what they were trying to do, but that was the first of many things I could complain about that weren't professional. I have never been late on a payment before, but one month I had a problem where my room mate couldn't come up with the money for rent. I paid half of mine on time, but told the office that my room mate would pay his within a couple of days. (By the 5th) Not only did they not work with me to keep me there and cash in on the rest of my rent for the year, but they proceeded to kick me out early. By the time the 5th came my rent had DOUBLED. Yes... doubled. They wanted me to pay double my rent, plus the charge that it accrued even though I had already paid half of my rent. I couldn't afford the doubled rent seeing as I had already paid half and asked if I could move out. Of course we know the answer to THAT question was no. So they proceeded right along with kicking me out, and I cleaned and moved out early with no money and no place to go. On top of that, they sued me for the rent I didn't pay for the rest of the year, and I'm STILL making payments (they raked up a good $8,000 plus for court fees, cleaning, and breaking a contract) to the constable for almost 4 years now and they never tried to charge anything to my co-signer who was the one who didn't pay the rent. It almost seemed like they knew what they were doing, and trying to find any excuse to kick me out so they could collect on the fees for breaking the contract. I was also told that I would be charged $20.00 per cigarette butt (from a lovely note on my door from the office) that was on the ground outside of my apartment, even though I wasn't the one throwing them down there. I had only been smoking in my car AWAY from the property and I'm VERY good about butts. I picked them up anyway just so I wouldn't get charged or harassed any more, but I still got blamed every time they showed up. Also, they said I couldn't bring my cat but there was a cat on every floor! Maybe they should think about pet deposits because they play favorites when it comes to animals. They say no pets but I guess it's just about who sucks up to who!
Sorry this is so long, but they really do suck THIS BAD.
1) The Lease is RIDICULOUS. There's many things on there that I would recommend reading over before you move in.
2) They rent out to pretty much anyone. I had some coke heads below me, a heroin dealer across from me, and I had one man stalk me until I moved out because you can see exactly which apartments everyone lives in.
3) They say the floors are "reinforced" with some sound proof stuff but whatever it is, it doesn't work.
4) Garbage bins are FOREVER away, so most people put their garbage out on their front walk way
5) Pricing is ridiculous and so are late fees.
6) The "outside" appearance is nice and the new paint inside is nice, but when you make every apartment out of crappy materials with hardly any insulation plus require residents to pay their own utilities you're not going to have happy campers. I'm renting a HOUSE now and the utilities aren't that high ever.
7) Staff is horrible. If the owner has to come on here and try and boost sales, you know it's bad. They should be more worried about keeping people happy and not about making the bad reviews, well, look bad.
8) It doesn't matter how much you clean, they will always charge you when you move out. I don't think I even got a list of what they did do.
9) Don't bother "buying" a parking space either. People park wherever they want anyway and your spot is hardly open. It's worse on one side than the other.
10) There's no added benefits besides "Move in your friend, and we'll screw them over just as bad as you!" Maybe they should come up with something new like...internet' cable' maybe even a raffle' Maybe anything at this point.
And the final...
11) Plan on getting harassed for something at least once a month, if not twice. My gas was still on when I moved in, and I still had two weeks to get the gas turned over in my name. Kid you not after a day of being there I got at least three calls on my cell phone demanding I get it put in my name immediately. Then, when I tried calling back to tell them it was in my name, no one tried to call me back for at least a week. I can't even imagine if anything went wrong in the apartment they would try and fix it within a reasonable time.

Please, please, please, please don't move in here. You'll be complaining from day one. I promise.

I feel your pain, man. We made sure our place was ---- and SPAN. We rented a carpet cleaner and everything. They were supposed to pay us the refundable deposit of $200, but what did they do? They used that money to replace the carpets and charged us the difference, which was $50! That's so illegal! But we haven't paid it and the funny thing is they can't press charges because we'll be able to countersue. The laws under the renter's rights in Utah are pretty strict.
