PROS: Fairly new apartments with attractive architecture and well-maintained grounds...The new management that took over in October 2006 is much better...Activities and amenities galore for the party animal (Brand new LDS Chapel, 5-Buck pizza, Hogi Yogi, salon, comedy club, basketball and volleyball courts, and free gym onsite)...2 pools, hot tubs and a jacuzzi, game room with pool and ping pong tables...Abundant parking (that's an understatement)...Free cable and high speed internet in apartments...Utilities are bundled so you don't have disputes w/ roomies about that...Free magazines are distributed to apartments on a regular basis that have coupons you can use on dates and other activities...5 out of 7 buildings are rented to girls, so if you're a single LDS guy, you'll find no shortage of cute, single, temple-worthy LDS girls here!!...Excellent price available for living here during school year...Bus service is reliable, comes about every 15 mins. throughout the day; big plus is that UTA Headquarters are directly across the street, Parkway is the first stop on its route...Elevators in the building are nice if you live on fourth floor or if your arms are full
CONS: Noise from trains at night is a downside...Apartments aren't huge, but there are private rooms usually available if you like your space...Have been some problems with safety in recent past, though situation is improving...Maintenance is a little slower responding to requests...Have adequate transportation, preferably a car or bike available (unless you buy a bus pass from UTA), because complex is about 20 min. walk from UVSC, Walmart, not to mention the roads there are high traffic because of I-15...Laundry rooms are available in building, though all of us would prefer to have them in our apartments, right'
OVERALL: I believe Parkway Crossing is better than it's gotten credit for. Past rules were not enforced strictly, and as a result, tenants didn't take management at their word. That is no longer the case with this new management. They are stricter, but not anal...a good combination. If you work with them, they will generally work with you. Do not mess with this new management--they mean business and expect you to act like adults. I believe in the long run that this complex, if the new management continues to do the job it was hired for by its owner and keep rent and utilities prices affordable, will become one of the envys of UVSC student housing.
