Ventana Student Housing

Read it all....I promise I'm being fair. From: jackiemae34 Date posted: 6/10/2008 Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2008   They will squeeze as much money from you as humanly possible. It will take 2-3 calls (at least) for a maintenance request. The walls are paper thin, and the parking is terrible. I loved the environment and the convenience to UVU, but the management made it ridiculous to live there. They are not helpful. Even to ask a question about my deposit, I had to call twice. The second time I only left my name and my phone number. I guess they didn't want to answer my question when they knew what it was. I've never been late with a payment, but if you are too early, they will send you bills because they don't have good enough records so it will show you didn't pay. We asked for cameras as 2 people (1 from each year I lived there) were followed up the stairs by a stranger who dropped his pants when he got close, then ran away. Ventana would do nothing about that. Luckily, they put lights in the underground parking. There needs to be security cameras, and they finally put one in the Underground Parking (because people were getting their cars broken into at night). There is also a problem with bed bugs in Building B. Be careful where you live! I loved my neighbors and the people are great. They are the nicest apartments in Orem. The problem lies with the management. They are not willing to work with people. I lived at Ventana for 2 years. The first year I really didn't have any problems. They took money out of the deposit for something that wasn't in our contract though. (he next year, it was in the contract) They charge a $25 dollar reconditioning fee for every 4 months you are there. They require a 9 month contract, which is ridiculous with their fee. Also...They don't clear the parking lot in the winter. On the North side of Building B there is always a sheet of ice. It is quite scary when you can't stop. They also would not do anything about this when called. Good luck all you who are living there!
