Social With Gestapo

If you enjoy socializing... then make friends at school. Living in a place where management is LITERALLY in and out of your Apartment-- cleaning checks, managment checks, maintenence checks, random carpet cleanings, notices about too much trash, or a bike somewhere where its not supposed to be... Cleaning checks about every THREE weeks with 2-3 inspections PER cleaning check. We had several Maintenence problems in which they would only actually fix at 7-8 AM. I was sitting in my bathroom WITHOUT notice when 4 MEN walked in!!!!
Rent is way too much to be paying for an apartment that feels like is not truly yours! I was locked out and went in through my window, promptly replacing the screen. I shortly received notice that I would be charged upwards of 45.00 dollars to replace a BROKEN screen, which was not broken at all.
cleaning checks are inconsistant, unfair. We would clean for hours only to be charged 20 dollars an HOUR for people to come clean our apartment. it was kids just like us cleaning the apartment, not any better than we had cleaned it.
Then when 2 of my 5 roommates reported STOLEN goods from their rooms it took testimonials of over a DOZEN of our apartments in our ward with similar complaints before any action was taken. And the cash that was stolen from my roommates room'' Never replaced. But we still had to pay the cleaning check.
Then by far the best experience. A friend of ours left our apartment one day... about 130 in the AFTERNOON. about eight minutes after he left king henry office ladies were at the door asking if everyone in the apartment was all right. '!'' They APPARENTLY were worried that this gentlemen was lost or something. Then proceeded to ask individually each of my roommates if this friend-- who had come over for lunch in the MIDDLE OF THE DAY-- had spent the night. When he was fully dressed, and was there during visiting hours in our kitchen.
I doubt you read this whole thing... I honestly feel some relief to be writing this. I will never advise anyone to live in a place they are PAYING for to be treated like a juvenile.

Manager's Response |
|
| From: Manager | Date: 12/17/2009 |
| We sincerely regret that you didn't have a positive experience here at King Henry. Please rest assured that we take your feedback and suggestions seriously, and we are constantly trying to improve. Let me take just a few moments to respond to some of your specific concerns here. 1. We apologize that our maintenance crew made you feel uncomfortable; that's certainly not our intention. We pride ourselves on having the most responsive maintenance of any student housing complex, and our technicians have a goal of fixing any work order within 24 hours. We will keep this goal, but going forward, we have instructed our maintenance team to take extra care when entering women's apartments to avoid uncomfortable experiences such as yours. 2. Cleaning checks are a logistical challenge and we understand they can be frustrating if standards aren't applied in a consistent manner. We are now giving more training our inspectors to improve our consistency. We view cleaning checks as absolutely necessary to ensure that every King Henry resident can enjoy the clean apartment they deserve. Many tenants have told us they look forward to the cleaning checks, since that's the only way to motivate their messier roommates to tidy up. We are willing to be the "bad guy" about monthly apartment cleaning so individual tenants don't have to be. 3. Any report of stolen goods from an apartment is very serious, and we apologize for any delay you experienced in our response to this. 4. We certainly don't want any of our tenants to feel like we're policing them or treating them like juveniles. Please note that we are also required by the BYU Off-Campus Housing Office to enforce the BYU Honor Code within our complex. We apologize that you were offended by our asking about your male visitor; our only motivation for asking about sleepovers or other potential Honor Code violations is to fulfill our obligation to the Housing Office. If we were to turn a blind eye to honor code issues, our complex could lose its BYU Approved status and we would swiftly go out of business. As always, please feel free to call us directly at 801-370-2400 to discuss further. Our goal is to understand your concerns 100% and respond to them to the best of our ability. Sincerely, KH Management | |
