The Good. . The Bad. . and the Legacy Springs

We had a love/hate relationship with Legacy Springs. The apartments were fantastically huge!! The grounds always seemed nice. The laundry facility was nice (although usually dirty). We loved the playgrounds.
When we were moving in, they had one one bedroom available. We said great and were ready to put a deposit on it. The next day, we got a phone call saying that there was a mistake and there was already a deposit on that apartment. There was one more one bedroom available - the model. They would not give us a straight answer of whether that one was available to rent. After about 3 days they decided to let us have it. They were fine when we moved in. They continuously changed the keys to the pool and work-out room, so you were never really sure if you would be able to use the facility that day. We called for one work order the whole time. Our toilet wouldn't flush. It never really flushed before, but this time it was at a stand-still. I called the office. No one answered. I called the number the answering machine gave us for maintenance emergencies. As it turns out, there was someone in the office and they were just on the other line. They were a bit annoyed with me.
The real problem came when it came time to move out. We originally were debating on a 6-month lease or a 12-month lease. Our bad - we couldn't find out copy of the lease agreement. So 6-months later when we had a notice on our door that it was time to move-out or sign a new contract, we planned on moving out. We were going to buy a house. We made arrangements to move in with my parents. We had everything packed up. The day we were moving, we got a call saying that they were charging us $1500 to move. We went to the office and they said that we were breaking our lease. I showed them what they put on our door. They said they made a mistake and we were still stuck in our lease. I asked to talk to the regional manager so we could sort something out. The regional manager said we could wait to talk to the office manager on Monday or we could talk to her attourney in court. Nice huh' We ended up staying. After that, everything was just fine. They took off $25.00 from our deposit for things that were broken when we moved in and had put on our move-in checklist. But it was only $25.00. No use crying over spilled milk.
All in all, this apartment complex isn't a bad place. Just keep hold of your lease. :)
