Yo!

Cool Place... Great Concept... but HORRIBLE management and poorly constructed

While I really liked my apartment here and I had every intention to open my artist studio for gallery strolls as soon as I had the chance, I am now hoping to move out ASAP. I have been constantly frustrated with management from day one. It is nearly impossible to get anything taken care of and I feel as if my requests and concerns are tossed out into the wind by the property manager. Sometimes it takes over a week just to get in touch with management and then when we do, they never follow through with anything promised. The voicemail box gets full and calls are NEVER returned. It is generally well known amongst the tenants here that the management is incompetent, lazy, and unconcerned about the quality of life of those who live there.

The walls are paper thin and we are constantly bombarded with noise from neighbors next door and can even hear music resonating from 2 doors down. It's to the point where it seriously affects our ability to relax or get any work done. This is a huge problem for people who are artists or professionals working from a home studio/office. I'm a freelance designer who works from home in the evenings and weekends, which unfortunately happens to be the prime time for parties. The place feels more like a college dorm with loud obnoxious parties every weekend than a community of working artists.

When we moved in the apartment was brand new but the construction was so rushed due to being months behind schedule that serious corners were cut and as a result things are already starting to break and fall apart. They never cleaned up properly after construction was completed and there is a major amount of dirt and dust floating around. The lower level is especially filthy with the 150 year old concrete floor that is basicly disentegrating. No amount of sweeping, mopping or cleaning will stop your things from being constantly filthy.

Basiclly, our experience here has been a nightmare... I was so optimistic about the idea of having a live/work studio that I put up with the worst experience I've ever had in an apartment. I've lived in a lot of places and nothing has even come close to being this bad.

All I can say is, it has SO much potential and I hope that Artspace will make some changes with the management so that it can live up to its potential.
