Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2007
Pros:
-Only 2 blocks from campus (although a steep uphill walk on 1st south)
-On site laundry rooms
Cons:
-Buildings are very old (>50 years) and often in disrepair; expect things to break
-Management is nearly non-existent, and frequently changes hands. I lived there for 9 months and saw the manager once (when I moved in). Based on letters that were dropped off at our doorstep, the management changed at least 2 times while we were there. Phone numbers provided to contact the management were either not returned or the numbers were disconnected. However, a new manager moved in right before we moved out, and it seemed as though this individual was going to do a better job.
-Repairs are slow or nonexistent. We had a broken hall light from October until we moved out. I had a friend who had a broken railing and repeatedly requested having it fixed, yet nothing was ever done.
-The price was initially cheap at $550/month, but was later upped to $650/month. This is pricey for buildings in this poor of condition.
-The parking is terrible, as the roads are in disrepair (entry driveways have huge potholes and sunken asphalt) and no visible attempt is made to verify if cars parked in the lot belong to tenants.
