If you think that you will have the control over your utilities, you are wrong-you will not. At the flick of the switch your utilities can be turn on or off outside your apartment. Or, they can produce an interesting noises...

My Air Conditioner suddenly stopped working on May 15 2008. After I complained about broken AC system in the Apartment Review (on May 16 2008), I have much more noise in the apartment than before. Water is running through the pipes with a horrible noise all day long.
You can listen to the noise in the apartment here: http://www.geocities.com/northgate.apartments/index.html

The whole AC system was replaced last year (Northgate paid $3000 to Comfort Systems to replace it). I was waiting for a whole summer for the system to be replaced. It stopped working in May and they replaced it in September. This year (2008), I used the conditioner only a few times. Now it is broken again!' The 3rd year (in 2006 the AC system was not working as well) without the air conditioner! I don't believe it. The system was working before May 15.

I think these guys will do whatever it takes to rid of the residents they don't like. I have never believed that my first AC had broke. It was new and worked perfectly until May 2006. They replaced my new AC with the OLD one!

Oct. 3, 2008. Well, now they cannot fix my heater. Heater stopped working while they were fixing the air conditioner in May 2008. Maintains came on Oct.3, 2008 at noon, they replaced the thermostat, mixed up the wires, so the AC stopped working completely. At 7pm. Comfort Systems's guy came; he fixed the thermostat; it looked like everything was working. In the morning Oct.4 the AC began to produce horrible noises even in Off state.

Instead of fixing the problem, the management harms those who complain.
Why not just fix a problem' It would be no complains then. It is incomprehensible!

Aug.5 2008. The lease renewal can be a torment. My new lease cycle started on August 1, but the re- certification (started in May) is not completed yet. I mentioned in my application that I might go to school in September (part time). Now they need all information about that, about something that is not happened yet and may never happen. They are asking me the same questions and make fill out the same forms again and again.

The apartments, if you can stand the noise outside (from trains, trucks, etc.), are not bad at all. Under proper management (who will not create problems for their residents) it is a good place to live. But, if you are on some kind of low income program, they can make your life here misarable. It can be difficult to make them fix the broken items and they will disturb you with their frequent and long-lasting inspections.

What I really liked about the apartment that you don't hear when your neighbors turn on water in their bathrooms at all. Now I don't have this privilege. I hear it very well all day long with very short (5-15 min) breaks, starting from May 16, 2008. Run water, run!

From my very first day here I feel nothing, but hostility from the management and maintenance.
During all 3 years and especially in the period of recertification (May-June), they do whatever possible to force me to move. Sorry, I don't have place to go right now.

If somebody can help, please email me at northgate733@live.com. Inspectors (not local), welcome!

To ask the management to solve the problems is the same as ask the Chief of the police to find a criminal if the criminal is the Chief of the police.
They will listen to you, they will lie about the matter, and they will make the problem worse.

What is your problem......you obviously have issues. Northgate is a great place to live, staff have always taken care of our needs. The place is taken care of and we couldn't imagine living anywhere else. Why don't you move if you are unhappy. You probably wouldn't be happy anywhere. You need to get a life!

I cannot say that I am unhappy here. I am fine. I got accustomed to the noises outside and inside and to constant repairs in my apartment. I like NorthGate. I agree it is a good place to live. Not for everybody, however. I am not imagining what is happening to me here. Why would I? And that is only a small part of the truth. I want others to know. May be it will help somebody else. I don't see the complains lately, may be it is helping, already. I am taking all their wrath on myself. That is not me who has the issues. I pay rent on time, I don’t brake anything, I don’t slam my door, I don’t turn my audio loudly, and I walk very quietly in the room and in the corridor. Definitely it is not enough to be in favor of the management. Interesting, what do you do to be in their favor?
